Thread regarding Bank of America layoffs

TOXIC ENVIRONMENT

This place is so damn toxic. Middle management, especially overseeing the financial center channel, is horrific. Nepotism is rampant and no one actually gives a damn anymore. I am actively looking to leave as management makes clear they don’t want anyone but “yes men” around them. This toxic culture is iceberg and BofA is sailing right for it. The rot is coming from the top, people, and the worst is yet to come. There is a brain drain occurring as everyone who is talented and cares is flocking to Chase.

Truist tech space is in a big mess right now after the merger. I heard from many of my friends no one wants to join.

Come on over to Truist. We have jobs open everywhere and we care.

There's a lot of anger and frustration here. The truth is irrelevant. Venting might make you feel better temporarily, but try and realize the truth.

There is no spoon. You cannot bend management. You cannot change them. All you can do is realize that you should focus on the things you can control and make it so that management basically doesn't exist to you. Clock in, do your job, collect your pay, go home. Be with your loved ones and your family. Do things that make you happy. Stop thinking about work. Think about things and people that value you. Make yourself happy -- only you have the power to do that.

Call your mom, she misses you, and take your wife out to dinner.

The most toxic executive in my group awarded all of his lackeys with Pinnacle Awards. Thereafter when sending a celebration email to the broader group boasting their success he could not state a single thing they did to earn the award. These toxic leaders are neither held accountable or even questioned - it's gotten so bad that they don't even have to pretend they are doing the right thing or giving everyone within their group equal opportunity.

I agree. Today, the 3 most toxic leaders in my department were rewarded with Pinnacle HONORS. Meanwhile, those who lead with a heart and focus on long-term and take care of their employees are not mentioned at all. It seems that the more toxic you can be, the better, and this goes all the way up to the top! Being a good leader is no longer valued like it was even a few years ago. You now must be as ruthless and toxic as possible to get promoted or even noticed. Going above and beyond does not even get you an ecard. I cannot wait to get out.

This bank is the WORST place I have ever worked at before. This bank promotes the d-mbest mofos to middle management. The conference calls are a complete waste of time. The bank system of getting things approved through the financial center level is horrific. Half of the people you call don't know their job. This bank is just hiring any mofos with a heart beat . I am ashamed to be part of this ongoing shlitshow . I am just half azzing everyday until something else comes along.

there are few good ones but they are surrounded by non performers masqueradimg as competent. The good ones are now infected with no vaccine insight.

So what do you do? If you can get out for a better option, go. Otherwise collect that check so you can pay them bills.

The biggest deliverable discussed to-date is hitting the door 3 days a week.

There are many on a count down clock to retire, they've had it. so just wait and watch, collect them RSUs.

It's everywhere, bleeding into everything, all across the bank. There is no end. They placate you with snacks but don't give you what you really want, which is resources (time, more staff) or money (raises, decent bonuses). Management is severely unhinged these days and it most definitely comes from the top. The inner battles between the MTM are bizarre. The MTM themselves conducting their businesses, some, in unethical ways and blackmailing their colleagues is rampant. Things weren't perfect decades ago, but now there is no justification for the mediocracy of almost the entire middle management team anywhere you look. Some good ones remain, but they are far outnumbers by those that lack basic critical thinking skills.

Unfortunately you’re right .. but it’s not middle management, it starts well above them and rolls downhill. I have seen middle managers that were great and eventually got tired of fighting against the company that they also start to give up. The culture has changed in such a negative way none of us stand a chance
