Thread regarding Bank of America layoffs

Truist employee coming to ask about RTO.

Hello from another banking employee to commiserate about RTO mandates. I am coming to your board as I had heard BoA uses badge swipes and tracking methods. I was just curious if this is true and if so what is actually happening.

We currently are expected to be in office 3 days a week, but there has seemingly never been in actual enforcement around it. Those who want to be in are in and those who prefer WFH maybe come in a day here and there or a few hours a few times a week.

Well now we get an e-mail congratulating us that we get to work so much better 4 days a week as a team and how excited everyone should be. Executive Management assumes our level of excitement will be so high that they noted managers will now be able to monitor your location via badge swipes and 'other tracking methods.' I assume the only reason for this is just incase anyone is working too hard they tell us to take a well deserved break.

Ok sarcasm over...but I am very interested if you all have a similar situation. I thought I had heard this was the case.

My main questions are your direct managers telling or showing you the data that they have on you and is it part of your annual goal or anything like that. I am just trying to get a sense of what the follow through actually is or if it is more of a scare tactic and/or an easy way to let someone go if they want to.

but what are you to do when the one coffee badging is actually your manager? and his manager is in EMEA

You can still get disciplinary action for coffee badging if your manager cares and is paying attention. I was told by a senior exec that is fraud.

Badge swipe checks, VPN usage, keyboard and mouse tracking... None of this is new. We had it back in 2001 and possibly earlier.

Get comfortable with being monitored. If you really read the paperwork you signed when you got here, you are subject to monitoring any time.

What I mentioned above is the tip of the iceberg. I hate to sound like I'm old and grumpy, but I'm just telling you that complaining about badge swipes and VPN stats is a waste of time.

@3mdw+1s67KwcD Those letters of education do not hold weight. i saw someone who got the letter for not complying, and she was promoted to VP a few months later.

Some of us were eyeing positions at Truist due to their flexible work-from-home policy. I am disappointed to learn that this is not the case.

Yes. It’s true and yes it’s being enforced. There have been “letters of education” go out to employees who are in violation. It clearly states on the letters that it will go in your file as well as could lead to further disciplinary action.

Yes, it is true. I feel better in the office. In the beginning Bank was providing lunch. I think Bank starts gas allowance, it will help to increase RTOs.

Badge will go in an RFID blocking wallet once in the door.

OP....Why are you asking so many questions about our badge system and what data is collected and shared?

If you have been offered a position, then figure it out when you get here. Otherwise I'm very happy to work with the site administrator to reverse engineer your post.

They’re rolling out new badges. No word yet if they have tracking in them.

It's 3 days a week even if you take 2 vacation days or if your sick 2 days you need to come in the other 3 days. If you enter 3 days off (Vaca/sick/personal/holiday/etc) in workday you are counted in compliance that week and don't need to come in at all. You must enter the time before you go out on vacation so it transfers to the manager dashboard..

They also have some major holiday weeks that are not measured like labor day week, Thanksgiving, Juneteenth, last 2 weeks of December.

I’m in GT, architect team. My manager started sharing with the team this workplace excellence dashboard. You’re either in compliance or not for the week, based on 3 badge swipes per week, and are required to be in compliance 4 of 6 weeks. The 6 weeks is rolling schedule and that’s displayed on the dashboard also.

Badging in and then going home is what they’re looking at next. If you’re using VPN, that has always been tracked by management. Being in compliance for the week but still showing as 40 VPN hours validates you’re not at the office and playing the badging game.

yes, badge swipes are being counted and reported to managers on a weekly basis. I have seen the report with my own eyes. the report shows how many days you are in the office each week. i do come in the office regularly and I see A LOT of people work a few hours at their desk and leave and finish their workday at home because their manager is not in the same location as them. That's their work-around.

So are they open about that?

I am wondering if you are provided the details they have with the tracking be it badge swipes or some other method.
