Thread regarding Bank of New York Mellon Corp. layoffs

SUB Agreement Question

I was recently given severance and in the terms it says that I have no right to apply for or work at BNY or any other of its releasee, unless otherwise waived. Does anyone know what defines “releasee”? The definition isn’t given in the document.

@2zdk, you are simply wrong. The releasee is the company. The employee signing the contractor is the releasor.

This must be new.

“Releasee” is simply you. H.R. employees are generally the weakest educated employees so you’re not going to get cogent statements and explanations from them. You’re actually lucky to receive any response from them as all work from home and run errands all day.

I left a good while ago with SubPay and my terms specifically stated that I was "eligible to apply for positions posted...etc" - so perhaps things have changed since then (quite likely) or there are different versions of the terms they provide depending on some other factor.

Not exactly sure what the section your referencing is trying to state but you can always apply for a job. Perhaps they may reject you. When my position was “eliminated” and I was let go, I applied for a new position and received an offer from BNYM. Luckily I received an offer from another and accepted it. Good luck with your search and hopefully you will look back on it and realize being let go was a blessing to get out of BNYM.

You can't apply for another position at BNY or any subsidiaries unless you work at a firm or company they acquire later on that you happen to be working at. Only BNY holds the right to release this clause. The time limit...... forever?

The releasee would be BNYM and you are the releasor. Do they mention some subsidiaries or something? They probably mentioned it to cover BNY Mellon, Bank of New York Mellon, etc
