Thread regarding Bank of New York Mellon Corp. layoffs

AML/Prevention/KYC

Hi everyone,

I just saw on the Internet that BNY Mellon’s Lake Mary Office is currently hiring for this role. Associate, Anti Money Laundering/Prevention/KYC Representative II

If you can, could someone please tell me if this job combines both AML/KYC work into one job? I have experience with AFC and KYC, with some Sanctions and other. I sometimes see jobs for Junior Analyst or Representative I or II roles opens periodically.

Also, is this team currently growing in Lake Mary, FL? Thank you so much.

P.S. I understand that things are uncertain at BNY Mellon. I am looking for answers from people who have either worked in, worked with people in these roles. Additionally, I’d like to hear input/comments from people who’ve worked at the Lake Mary office too.

Thanks again.

Well BNYM did have an awesome work from home model for two plus years during Todd’s COVID tenure, but our children, er, employees.. gradually ramped up Netflix watching, bragging about it on social media and then proved themselves to be permanent slackers when they fought returning to office.

Make no mistake… employees, not Robin, started this war against management. I often wonder how our employees are ever going to find a better job after they’ve lost their work ethic. Our India and Poland workers do still have a work ethic.

I was in that role in another state and was laid off due to the positions shifting to India and FL. BNY can be a great place to work for with the right management but they have no issue getting rid of you after working you like a dog. Good luck.

@3nlv yes, it is. How are we supposed to justify employing American workers for 3x’s the cost of Indian counterparts when they can’t even manage to use the word “their” in its proper context. AND IT’S THEIR PRIMARY LANGUAGE! it’s friggin embarrassing.

What a fool you are. I was directly answering the folks wondering about the wisdom of moving to Lake Mary to work. You, hopefully, will continue to foul your own blue state nest and leave Florida unspoiled

@1mvd Congratulations weirdo. No one asked. And what do your posts have to do with layoffs at BNY? Take your politics back to social media.

My winter home is in FL. I have to say it's always refreshing to be able to use shopping bags that actually work. The ones that co-mies made illegal in NY...

To Lake Mary Anon.

I actually live in Florida. I’m currently looking to move back to my home in Central Florida. I’ve been keeping an eye out for any open opportunities. I applied to Lake Mary for the AML/Prevention/KYC role back in like 2018 or 2019 I think. My application was rejected even though I did try and make my resume match the job description.

It looks like the positions BNY Mellon have open in Lake Mary are all Associate to Director levels. I’m looking for something more Entry Level for now.

Lake Mary Anon, do you have any advice to successfully apply for roles at Lake Mary?

To those who choose to migrate from Blue States to Florida, please don’t bring your politics with you and foul our nests as you’ve done in your states.

You’re welcome. Escaping a northern Blue State to Florida is an unbelievably wonderful and freeing experience. Super low costs, low taxation, and things just work here. New York, New Jersey and Pennsylvania are all incredibly mismanaged and the taxation is totally out of control.

To the anonymous person who replied, thank you. I’d figured Lake Mary was growing. I read the news last year in December that they had intended to expand the Lake Mary office. Apparently all expansion should finish by this year. I haven’t seen a lot of openings for Lake Mary yet. At least not since earlier this year. But I do anticipate there might be more.

This seems like the late 2000s and early 2010s where a lot of Banks and investment/asset firms were all moving down to Florida.

Again, I know things are uncertain and I’m fully aware of what’s been happening at BNY Mellon. Good luck to everyone.

Of course CNY will be eventually all cut - BNYM doesn’t have a REMOTE model. It’s well known. I don’t know why anyone would think otherwise??? They are now training folks in Pittsburgh on wire transfer investigations, so that will wipe out anything left in Oriskany. Matt DID say “we won’t lose our jobs THIS year” that was in 2023…

So if Lake Mary is hiring KYC and AML looks like that might be the next cut in central NY?

Traffic. Tourists. High food prices. High housing costs. Hot.

Lake Mary is a great place to live and work. No state income tax, one simple low annual tax covers schools, emergency services, police, etc. life is so much simpler and stress free by comparison with the northern blue states with their contests to create ever new taxes. Bulk of government runs on tourism based taxes.

Lake Mary is a growth Center, meaning we are building our teams there. People in non-growth centers have limited opportunities. So you should be OK if hired in that location .
