Why are the dropping Mellon name? Maybe its because of DEI? Pittsburgh and Mellons were lied to.

We had to remove “Mellon” from the name because poor Andrew Mellon was spinning in his grave ever since we were acquired by NYC suits.
Because some 22 year-old self professed expert aka dweeb from McKinsey said we needed to be edgier, DUH
They need to make room for India on the end of BNY
BNY India 🇮🇳
Everyone at 1wall and 101barclay still said BNY.
I shed a small tear. Long live Mellon and may Pittsburgh guide this company forward.
@1gig Being dr-g back into the Stone Age was when I was a JPMC employee sold to BoNY in 2006. I went back 30 years at least in tech and procedures (and prestige). We never caught up. The Mellon merger had no impact whatsoever other than promising Pitt we’d keep jobs there.
@Vito. Or maybe we can just go back to hiding IRS payments in the ceiling?
This is the 7th logo/name change since I’ve been here. Don’t get too attached they change them regularly. All it does is make the CEO feel like they did something and creates more work for the rest of us who need to go update all our docs.
By not changing our legal name or our stock symbol, this sounds like a lot of effort for minimal return. Why was this necessary or even beneficial? Just so Robin can out his stamp on the company? And the LinkedIn comments about how innovative this is are hilarious.
It’s a fashion. The pendulum swings and right now we’re in a minimalist phase, gone are the banks that had every single partner in their name, and good riddance.
It doesn’t bother me. I’ve been embarrassed to tell people where I worked ever since we were acquired by BNYMorons in 2008.
I wish that the Bank would simply remove all traces of the Mellon name.
BONY dragged Mellon Bank back to the Stone Age.
Stick a fork in it, it’s been done for a long time.
Ain’t no M inBNY
It’s interesting that we’re Bank of New York but NY state keeps losing more and more jobs at BoNY.
All of our email addresses will change to drop Mellon before year end
I just saw they launched their first social media ad with the new branding. Even Miss Cleo could have seen this coming. https://www.instagram.com/reel/C8E1l3GMSAK/
Mellon never brought anything to the table once we merged. I’m glad they removed it from the name.
It is quiet a metaphor just like our Jobs are fleeing this country to craphole nations so are the people fleeing the state the bank is named for. Thats what the arrow represents and so fitting we are re-emphasizing New woke York in our brand.
BNY will stand for Bank of New Yindia
Alexander Hamilton is smiling up above.
How pi---d are BNY Pershing today?
Of all the things to care about...
What’s next, gonna go back and do business with Russian mobsters again too??
The Emperor can blab all he wants, but he’s talking loud and sayin’ nuthin’.
The Mellon brand really carries no weight. For better or worse, BoNY is a thing....
Makes sense that there’s been more folks with bny.com email addresses floating around lately. Bring back the spirograph!
Maddening that it’s all about NY!! What a slap in the face. We are a global company.
Yes, I still have some maroon and spirograph swag!
Bring back the maroon and the spirograph!
The legal name of the company will remain as The Bank of New York Mellon Corporation. It’s a brand/logo change.
BoNY again hahaha
We’re dropping Mellon from our name and will be just BNY again. Been in the works for months but will be announced this week.
How many millions will this name change cost us?
I'm late to the party, when was this announced? And where?
As much as I disagree with the change and did appreciate Mellon being in the name, it is correct that our clients and the street refer and think of us as BNY. BNY was the larger player at the time of the merger broadly speaking and had more recognition in the corporate banking, capital markets, and securities servicing spaces. Mellon had a lot of name recognition in the Pittsburgh area and surrounding regions, but mostly in a retail and commercial banking capacity which just isn’t part of the firm’s current DNA.
I like the Mellon name, I think it gives the firm a cool heritage and connection to an old banking family, but realistically no client or counterparty thinks of us as anything other than BNY or BoNY. It’s like when JPM bought Chase - it’s part of the name still, but no one other than their retail (Chase) clients thinks of the firm in that capacity. No one on their corporate or investment banking client base thinks of them as anything other than JPM. Sad to see it go but I don’t see anyone being phased by this other than our pre-merger Pittsburgh employees who in my experience associate more with Mellon Bank than they do with BNY, despite that firm being gone for the better part of 20 years at this point.
What are you on about now?
You mean….watermelon!!!😎
