Thread regarding Bank of New York Mellon Corp. layoffs

No severance to fund corporate jet and other amenities

In my opinion, who would want to work at this firm?

Firing people with severance so that they can fund a second corporate jet and build a restaurant in the new york office. Offering people almost no severance for 20+ years of service. Shame on this firm firm taken over by Goldman people

Why not focus on revenue growth? Oh, that's right. BNY can't actually substantially grow revenue but somehow think that a second corporate jet, or building an unnecessary restaurant or gym is essential. is that worth lives and blood of their long time employees.

Revenue is money coming in
An expenses is money going out (which came in from revenue)
Earnings is what's left over.

@ivfw

Ummm… no.

Severance isn’t paid out of Bank Revenues. It’s paid out as expenses as a hit against earnings on the income statement.

Apparently we are now back to hiring University of Phoenix Graduates?

@icbl, um, severance is paid from company revenue as are jets. So you'd be wrong.

You’re absolutely correct. Severance has absolutely nothing to do with corporate jets.

What's up with 240 anniversary celebrations. Seems like a tailor made excuse for RV to self promote and to rehabilitate his own image on company's dime. All these brand new EC people celebrating BK's history - what a joke.

Wow, so this is why R.V. fits in so well with the corrupt NYC leadership!

Looks like AML case , should be deported back to London from where he came from to clear all the charges. Perhaps he is hiding in US , at the least he should clear all the online AML trainings that bony assigns as mandatory to Employees.

Apparently RV fits in perfectly with the Bank of New York leadership.

Andrew Mellon is surely turning over in his grave. Regulators need to break up this bank ASAP..

Now the benefit cuts make sense. Why would the board hire someone so shady?

@lbz interesting that the fraudulent division CIO who fired the 20+ year veteran employee with no severance in yesterday’s thread was also originally from the Singapore office.

Keep in mind, these are the Goldman people that failed miserably at Goldman. RV himself was heading the group that the 1MDB scandal and looting occurred. He was CRIMINALLY charged until Goldman agreed to a settlement, after which authorities dropped those charges.

https://www.theguardian.com/world/2019/aug/09/1mdb-malaysia-files-charges-against-17-current-and-ex-goldman-sachs-bosses

"Criminal charges have also been filed against Gnodde’s former co-CEO Michael Sherwood, as well as three former board members of the London-headquartered subsidiary: Brian Griffiths, Robin Vince and Claes Dahlback. Twelve current and former bosses of Goldman’s Hong Kong and Singapore offices were also charged."
