I noticed that we're required to badge out when leaving the building. Is this the case in both Ross and Grant? Do other offices have this? Guess this is how they get around the IP address tracking to keep track of time spent in office.

Ahh… I’m gonna go out on a limb here and state that 240G “leaders” have learnt a thing or two from the performance/productivity increase the Indian bosses reported based on any restriction.

There is a low floor area in the MCSC where you have to swipe out to leave. Many employees were very stressed about this because of fear of fire in which case doors do not allow exit. Don’t know if that has been rectified..
The primary reason in a building to swipe in and swipe out is to have proper headcount. I worked for a major network lab where there labs were many football field in size with huge racks of hardware - where one can easily be lost
This lab has seen lots of 'activities' especially with interns (and their extra-curricular activities). Folks work 24 hrs with tight deadlines and work alone. It is a highly secure building .. In case of a fire or emergency the security will know how many are in which lab and who are in which lab. Also they never installed cameras - another security precaution. This is also followed in high rise buildings. There are no fire-wardens to sweep the floor as they do in the drills 24x7
A real good intent can be abused. In India folks have/had to badge out to use the facilities - yes one cannot perform nature calls in office time .. May be 240G leaders learnt a thing or two from the performance/productivity increase the Indian bosses reported based on that restriction

It was always the case for oriskany and utica buildings. Makes no sense to not be the case anywhere else. How else would they know you're where your supposed to be
There will be a handicapped exit/gate as well. It always amazed me that people would pile up on the two exit turnstyles and not use the gate
If you've been swiping out at MCSC for 23 years you're lying or stupid. They did it briefly years ago long before covid and it was a cluster so they eliminated it. As someone said they claim it's a software issue with the turnstiles. I'm skeptical but we'll see. I had to wait in line at 6:45 this morning to get in because only 1 was functioning. I could see a fire marshal having a problem with the swipe to exit issue.
This was a mishap when they repositioned the turnstiles and had to reboot them because of the renovations. The swipe out is temporary.
In my building you had to swipe in and out. Then they sold the building and laid a bunch of people off
We don’t have that at my site…..yet. I consider it to be a welcome addition.

That does seem like it is dangerous to limit exit points during construction. BNY is usually very safety conscious, but this seems like an impediment to safely exiting the building in an emergency. It would appear tracking employee time in the building is more important than safety… they should’ve waited until the lobby construction was complete before making people swipe out.

Super idea to implement this during the height of construction. Traffic flow is already congested… lets create more of a bottleneck by limiting the exit points to 2 people at a time… which are also entry points. Brilliant.
