The best is when they say put the ?on the portal.
If I needed the response in 2 weeks I would.
HR stumbles over their own feet. Incompetent. Oh that info is confidential, well if yoy can't tell me, you do the work.

Incompetent HR Is redundant. We obviously are not hiring the best people.
I really miss the old school employee handbook. All those little links in the Peoples Solution Center answer nothing. Impossible to find an answer to anything on your own. I entered a question last week and the estimated date for a response was 3 days. If it takes 3 days to answer a question, that’s a disgrace and they should rethink what info is available.
Maybe I’ll put an auto answer on my emails -“The estimated response time is 5 days.” See how that goes!
Are you referring to the People Team? They have new leadership, so all of this is going to get much better.
HR is the absolute worst. You cannot get an answer for weeks and sometimes months from them for time sensitive things. Its absurd now
I’ve worked at many Banks and BONY HR is by far the worst.
Question- why do we even use the abbreviation HR? That inplies something ‘human’ and ‘resources’. Indeed not. For this phony front shell group why not go with something more close to the mark? How about P.U. ? Or Ew? Or F. U. ? Or maybe give them a promotion to three letters like ROT or DUH?
Well not quite… you’re HR and you’re at your HOME OFFICE 3x a week.
BIG difference. HR writes the rules and HR also sets the pay scale. It’s more like a lucrative retirement than a job.
And that long wait for HR with a quick I don’t know interaction and dismissal of your question goes into the logs as a quick successful interaction, stars to HR!
HR, marketing and operations are very d-mb.
Ah - the land of HR! You have to love it! Home of the useless DEI hires and overpaid consultants! They all have the same sense of over-importance, yet they're all completely worthless! If I ran this place the pink slips would be flying in HR - They add NO VALUE AT ALL to the company! Want to trim some fat in the organization - start with HR! We'll a 1000x better without them!
I agree they su-k and they are there for the managers only
There hasn’t been in office HR staff since COVID. Everybody knows that.
You haven’t seen anything yet. Wait until you leave and they grab your bonus, don’t answer phone calls and make your life generally miserable. For those who haven’t left, get all of your affairs super organized because you need to be on the ball to the degree that you know way more than HR, which actually isn’t difficult, except that they are in charge of mismanaging the portal.
The HR at BNYM is THE most callous, cruel, evil, unprofessional and sadistic people on earth.
I reported my treatment by them to a trusted EC member.
Having dealt with this HR group ended ANY good feelings I ever had with the bank. Heinous.
They are all d-mb af. Really makes you think how d-mb someone can be
I asked for a document and HR responded weeks later to tell me we don’t have the document and then closed the ticket before I got to respond.
Hr recruiters are a joke & don’t provide accurate information whether your a new hire from outside the bank or taking a better position within the bank. Both times/ scenerios I was given wrong information.
& they are not there to help employees - just cover mgt as--s
I’m HR and I am in the office 3x a week.
Answer 98pct of questions. Do you really?
HR covering my business line is a complete mess.
There’s a common theme with HR folks. Communications or liberal arts major, usually female. Read between the lines
Their internal recruiters are also very sloppy with their emails and interview scheduling, and somewhat unprofessional (i.e. won't go on camera for the phone screen). As a candidate, this was my first (and really bad) impression of BNY. Do better. People deserve better than third rate.
@ihw
So if the information is in the portal, why do we need the HR folks? This is proving that HR is incompetent- you just displayed to everyone that 1) HR is incompetent 2) doesn’t do anything 3) if they do answer the question, its to refer us to a page, policy etc.
I work in hr. What's your question.
98% of the questions we answer the information is online available to everyone. But no one wants to read. Or it's fix my mistake that I made but refuse to take responsibility for.
Where do you all get that hr is wfh? We have and follow the same work in office days as everyone else. I wish we got to wfh.
Some of those might be valid points but the incoherence of the OP detracts from the sentiment.
I worked in IT support and we used a ticket system along with a set of policies and standards to follow such as the amount of time a response should be given.
The main complaints I have is length of time for a response, correctness of response, and closing tickets. The length of time it takes to get a question answered is not even a few days, but instead weeks or months. I would expect a response within 24 which may not be an answer, but I at least know someone is working on my question.
Next, the question I submit is followed by an answer that may point to a document that has nothing to do with the question I submitted or the document doesn’t answer my question. Now the last problem I have is they close the tickets without any response from the user asking the question which just seems to be terrible service.
BONY HR is the worst ever. Ever since they got their portal they hide behind it work at home and get nothing done. Actually it’s much like our slackers during COVID. Hard to blame HR for the same behavior as our WFH people who now refuse RTO.
