Does your line of business/department make you use sick time to use the bathroom?

Ohhhhh but yes it is true for call centers. At least where I am. They watch you like a hawk. I do not move too well, hips, knees, age hahaha - so it does take me a little longer to get places. Doesn’t matter. I’ve been docked because of it. Moreso coming back from lunch and breaks. They claim it is legit. I have doubts but need my job. I am trying to comply, but can only do so much. You can bet they have their people all over these policies, so if you are thinking about challenging them, cover all your bases before you begin.

I worked in call centers before and I did not have to use sick time. Your after call time (when you’re line isn’t open for the next call) is how it was monitored. You had to be below a certain average, and therefore taking extended restroom breaks wasn’t a normal thing because you didn’t want to run up your after call average. To use sick time is insane. As another poster said get that in writing.

Yeah, um..let a manager..ANY manager ask me how I’m going to fund it when I need to log off from my phone and GO TO THE BATHROOM..when nature calls, you just have to go. And that’s exactly what I do. I log off, get up and go to the bathroom and log back in if I have to go. Don’t mess with me.

Call center agents can’t be away from their desks. If you are to log off from your scheduled phone time you need to fund it. Just wondering if it’s just our department and by the looks of it, it is.
Unless you are away from your desk more than at your desk and working and just riding the clock, then that may be your managers way of taking care of that issue.

GT&O Manager notating employees who were one minute late to preshift, pulling them aside and having them correct their start time in Workday. Real or fake?
Real! He was a new manager to the department, there was previously a 5 minute grace period. The guy he reported to was in on this too, quietly getting rid of the 5 minute grace period. When asked why, "everyone started showing up 5 minutes late" (not true, but this is often the line of reasoning any criticism gets in my LoB)
That’s a little much. In the financial center they don’t make you clock out to use the restroom.
Why do you post inane drivel like this?
In this place....it wouldn't surprise me. They will stop at nothing to induce attrition.
I’d get that in writing via email, or email your manager with a read receipt and then call hr for clarity.
asking because in my department if i need to use the bathroom, i have to log off the phone and therefore use sick time. this is the first department i work for or company in general that forces you to fund your own bathroom 3 min break with sick time. should i be calling employee relations or is this the new corporate America.
