Thread regarding Bank of America layoffs

Why no one is getting big raises anymore

  • A Bank of America Institute report shows the median pay raise for job-to-job movers has cooled.
  • Job switching has slowed from its Great Resignation era highs.
  • Middle- and higher-income job seekers could "have somewhat less leverage," per the report.

@5tey+1tqJlP4s - B3s in our division are not getting any huge raises.

No one got any raise from 2008-2023.

Our team got 2.8% in 2023.

was told they give us SS instead, which even if that 18% is correct (I have not reason to doubt), it does not even cover increased costs due to inflation

Only way to get more $$$ is change jobs (ut they try to get out of any incrase) or get a new job at a better paying company. Negotiate more vacation time to make up the diff.

Spot on about Sharing Success. They make it sound like they are giving out a lot to employees, but in reality, how much of that is never actually paid? Probably a healthy chunk. And what is paid is truly peanuts after 40% of the shares are withheld. So you get to look forward to getting 16 shares in 2028 for the record profits they earned in 2023.

"No idea where that money goes. It literally does not pay to go above and beyond anymore. Even Brian took a pay cut."

the money goes up
up to upper management
up to the board

it's sort of like water always flows downwards

I think Sharing Success is their idea of raises now, like a proft sharing program. While the grand total looks like a big amount (to generate good PR), after it's divvied up across 200,000 people, it's actually peanuts.

We make record profits year after year, but no one gets any raises anymore.
