is it mandatory all employees should get corporate mobile device? why my manager is forcing me to have one? I absolutely have no use of corporate cell phone use.

@7mrc+1tt5VxmZ - you know you can block all those numbers if they bother you during your quarterly dusting. ;-)

And block your manager's and HR's number while you're at it.

(message? what message?)

hehehe,

Reminds me of my long-ago company-provided BlackBerry, which served for a few years as a desk clock, its default state when plugged in.

They will keep getting fined then. Employees are still on webex calls using personal phones, so it looks like they are in the office since they only come into the office a few hours a day. Get rid of these people. They are not quality employees but only to check a box in the DEI category.

So I can blame the government for the incredibly ugly metallic red iPhone that has been used 4 times in 5 years? I keep it updated and make sure that I dust it twice a year. The only people that call me are debt collectors looking for the 3 previous owners. At least one is in serious trouble for not paying child support.

By the same token, personal calls, emails, and texts are not permitted on a corporate device. So start paying for your own again.

@tho+1tt5VxmZ is correct. Regulator mandated. Not BofA nor GIS choice.

For those of us in roles that do need to be "reachable", we used to be permitted to use and sync our personal device with bank apps, incl email and internal sites.

But last year (after some pretty hefty fines), the regulations changed for ALL banks.

Several (former) bankers have gone to jail (am not joking) for texting clients/prospects on their personal device offering "workarounds" for submitting bank (regulator) required documentation to secure commercial/corporate loans and more favourable rates.

That's why we keep getting regular emails remind us that any business-related correspondence (internal and external) needs to be on a Corporate Device.

So they can go back and look at emails, texts, etc. when the FBI comes knocking on the employee's door (which they have on multiple occurences).

If you don't need or use the corporate device, just put it in a drawer.

Personally, I just use the bank (subsidized) device and don't need to pay for my own.

It still lets me do everything I need or want with a mobile device.

GIS didn’t make that decision. The Federal Govt made the decision about personal devices. All the banks paid fines.

No, all employees don't get one. I have one but don't really use it because I don't work beyond my normal hours.

Depends on your role. In GT&O team and application managers all have one. I hate it too. I never use it and it's a waste to carry. The only reason they have to issue them is that they refuse to allow any of those apps on personal phones.

Once upon a time, I didn't need a personal cell. The corporate phone wasn't a bad perk and I could use it for other things (my own email, web browsing, etc). But GIS decided that the phones were strictly business.
