Thread regarding Bank of New York Mellon Corp. layoffs

The strategy is such that employees are not human beings

‘They have no idea what they're doing’ - Ahem, not so certain about that. They know EXACTLY what they are doing. It is premeditated, planned and agreed upon. The strategy is such that employees are not human beings. They are firstly biological infestations on payroll and benefits. They need to be treated like cheap appliances not people. The master plan is to cut and replace these ‘appliances’. Clients are not allowed any customized builds or extensive compliance and oversight. Not unless they sign a big check in advance. Clients are to be given cheap API basics and portal reports and if they want more, then they will pay, wait a long time and be unhappy with the results. This place is being slimmed down and slashed for a reason. The 2007 merger was a farce where both BNY and Mellon locations, systems, and so called management were mostly kept intact as is. For the meteor now approaching, the term ‘sunset’ will be real. This time, there will be a senior partner and a junior partner. Take a guess who the junior is? And junior doesnt get to keep people, locations and systems unless they cant be replaced. And ‘ya gotta believe’ many big scale client senior managers know it.

Was scrolling through our board in an unfounded hope that someone will say October layoffs are just a rumor, and I came upon this post. Putting it up so it’s not lost in replies. Found at: @1vsz+1tRCDKms

@4ket

Of course I’m serious. Management is terminating employees for flouting RTO. It’s totally in your hands to control that. Layoffs are different. As far as that goes we’ve had a total of 3% from January, Feb and and May totally.

I don’t know how anyone could possibly be fearing a layoff.

"May these good times of unprecedented job security at the Bank continue." Are you high? Or just trying to get a rise out of people?

We can all agree that BONY is a dump. The beauty is that there are now so many opportunities that anyone can land can land a new position with a sweet inflation beating raise.

@stb

Plain and simple, there will only be a small 1/2 percent layoff in October.

May these good times of unprecedented job security at the Bank continue. The Bank has now been very close to right sized thanks to (mostly) RTO attrition. Life is good without layoffs.

Thank you for this. It struck me the same… an unorganized mass of cr-p like Reddit or X.

Doesn’t make any sense here.

The Bank is not your Mother. Life will get harder children as you get older. The better you learn to work, the better your future will be. Regardless of where you work your attitude and work ethic will determine your success or failure. Calling your employer “This Dump” is your attitude and you need to work on it.

Untrue. Mellon Systems were “merged” with BONY but in truth mellon’s superior technologies were kept. “Merging” was code for “use Mellon’s Technology”.

A company that cares about mental health would not blindside their employees (especially those with very long tenure who may suffer mentally the most) with layoffs. Don’t say SUB PAY - money doesn't heal the pain. Be professional enough to have a conversation.

The point is that the three participation trophy generations are not cut out for working in any respect. This is truly a lost generation.

Don’t understand this thread….im sorry.
Clients pay for what they get…..including what they ask for….only fair. (As would a customer in any sense).
What is the point of this thread, or the question???

If this thread has a point, I’m struggling to find it…

Guys this isn’t Reddit, Telegram or X. This is meant to be a forum to share useful information about the place we work whether that’s to inform existing employees of what’s happening and inform prospectives of what’s to come … it’s not a platform for chronically online tinfoil hat-wearing keyboard warriors to share conspiracy ‘truthbombs’ with zero meaning.

If you’ve heard there’s October layoffs then say it plainly and clearly. Otherwise wait for someone else to come forward with actual information.
