Thread regarding Bank of New York Mellon Corp. layoffs

Everything about this place is mediocre

The pay, the benefits, the offices, the bathrooms, the technology, even a lot of the people.

Lack of bathrooms at OMC in Pittsburgh was an issue before the pandemic. When they remodeled the 8th floor and it was more densely populated, it became very noticeable. We had only had four men's' toilets for the entire floor.

This is ridiculous. The floors were designed to OSHA standards, and all floors were absolutely inhabited fully and had no issues whatsoever until people tried everything in their attempts to to force working from home. They failed but they just won’t let it go.

The floors were designed for many less employees, therefore there are not enough bathroom stalls. Now that they’re cramming everybody in to such tight spaces. The bathrooms are a disaster.

What is it with the constant fixation on the bathrooms? Did something change in the cafeterias?

Ok, here’s a few good reasons why people still work here:

Our employees are low on skillsets, many, if not most, are non degreed. The few competent workers remaining are either afraid of Job searching, or head of household and cannot afford to risk a jump to a bad position or, rarely, actually enjoy their jobs.

@glo

You’re absolutely wrong about Treasury Services. It’s likely the best in Banking.

Really?!?! Is this all you are moaning about?!?
Get off this thread please.
The website is “layoff.com”, not “b!tch about facilities” especially washrooms.
You all have too much time on your hand to do real work!
Get off!

It’s only as mediocre as the mediocre people it attracts, and judging by the way this forum has recently turned into a cesspool of whiny complainers who comment useless incessant sh-t which will have zero impact on the actual employees or applicants … BNY clearly seems to attract a LOT of you

Are you saying mediocre? Most banking jobs can be performed by mediocre. If you are genius why do you want to work for banking and finance. Go innovate something and creat your own company - if you are that genius. Most bank jobs really you do not need that smart. All they need is someone who listens and implement instruction. It is service oriented with no so much innovation.

You should see the bathrooms in the non-growth centers. Having been to both growth and non-growth there is no comparison. It’s like a 3rd world country.

Well, mediocre does mean that there is some limited degree of success to go long with failure. It means there is at least some middling degree of suitability. This certainly is not that. The words ‘third rate’, appalling, inferior and embarrassing come to mind. And oh yes, the bathrooms are breathtaking and not in a good way. The ones at greenwich are particularly eye watering after 10am. The veteran people remaining are generally kind and knowledgeable. The rest is like a city after Japanese monster movie creatures wreak havoc anf mayhem

The bathrooms are truly atrocious. Someone needs to check in on the diets of people working here. Horror is the only word to describe the noises and smells.

The people are mediocre as well. Nobody who is any good is going to work here. Good people quickly realize their mistake and simply go right back to job hunting mode. All that we have left are lifers.
