has anyone who is part of medical my work had any success applying for new roles and getting the job? or are you placed permanently in that dept that initially accommodated you

Trying to do the recertification since mine expired, my doctor put the same lingo as the original and they are saying it’s not considered a restriction. Not sure what has changed other than making it difficult for those that need it, and using intimidation saying you are risking your job. This is coming from the LES team directly.

I have an accommodation and managers are begging me to come to their team to support their open roles.

Post covid accommodations have nothing to do with it. The acceptance process has an entry for your physician to say how long you need accommodation for. ADA is the baseline here, not BAC policy. BAC will always do what's good for them so you need to rely on ADA guidelines. Applying for a new position should be same as if you were interviewing for the job as a none employee and the bank should have no information about whether you need a MA or not. We all know if you are posting to a new position they are going to be well aware of your current MA

I’ve had a medical accommodation for 10 years or so and have only had to re-certify once. I’ve worked in 3 different groups during that time and have also been promoted. I do think they make post-covid accommodations be redone yearly.

Not everyone’s medical exception requires yearly renewal.

With that said, I’ve had no issue moving around the bank while being in the MyWork program.

If your doctor knows how to write, they will ensure it must be renewed every time.

I was transferred to a dept due to a medical accommodation. I was never told it was only for a year, nor was i asked to renew paperwork while in that dept. however, after 2 and half years there were transfers made due to the dept slowing down and at that point i found out it was expired and would need to reapply.

While I do not know the "fine print" on the medical accommodation, am hearing from teammates on it that it has to be renewed every year, even if you're in the same role/dept.

As for transferring to any other role or area, you'd need to find a manager who supports the program and stay close to them.

While it should be a company policy to honor the accommodation for the specified period (which now seems to be year-by-year), there are roles that absolutely require being in the office due to the nature of the function/responsibilities.

There will be jobs you are not eligible for, so fewer opportunities.

There are also managers who believe the whole team should be in the office (and even the same location). I fled a manager who wanted everyone in the same place that I did not want to move to.

I now have a supportive manager who I've followed to stay on her team, since I know she depends on me and will advocate for me with her manager and HR.

Network to find a supportive manager and stay close to them.

And even then, it's often out of their hands.

I wonder if it'd be easier to just find a different company or run the traps here.

If you have a medical accommodation then it should not hold back the ability to obtain a job in a new area (with very limited exceptions), nor should you have to worry about it being honored for the remaining duration provided it is still active.

If you are officially on the MyWork program then you will likely need to either exit MyWork as a condition to obtaining the new position, or look for a new role within your same Organization that does not require going through an official posting.

I am wondering this same thing. I have an accommodation I need to get extended soon. I would like to be able to move around at the bank but worry new managers would not be supportive in the same way.
