Job applications

It’s been over 20 years since I filled out a job application, and I just hit a snag. The part about contacting my current employer made me freeze. With everything feeling so unstable, I worry that if my manager finds out I'm job hunting, I might be let go before I have something new lined up. For those of you who are also looking to jump ship, how do you tackle that question on your applications?

Yeah thats all you can do is get job verification using a number. You dont speak to a live person. In my opinion we should be cause some employees and candidates have been awful

It's an 800 number they call to verify your dates of employment and current position there, that's all. No one is speaking to your direct manager. Be more worried if you apply internally. There is no confidentiality with that process.
