RTO

Anyone else getting the “it’s not enough to do the minimum number of days of RTO” ?

WTF - just tell me how many days you meant me in the office. Stop playing these stupid games.

And I suppose the BAH MDs with dozens of hybrid minions under them will be enforcing this. Brilliant.

Our department has been told that anyone who has direct reports will need to be in 4 days a week as of January 2025. Comms due out imminently with further details.
I guess it will only be a matter of time before this extends to everyone.

@spd what office exactly should I go to? I’m a Syracuse employee. Please enlighten me as to what office I should commute to. Albany (2.5 hours away)? White Plains (4 hours away)? Pittsburgh (5.5 hours away)?

if they want people in office, don't close/sell locations and turn 30 minute commutes into 1.5 hrs. + tolls.

For one employees need to stop playing around and go back in cause thats what the expectation was when you took the job. But i think it’s fu---d up that mgmt is forced to terminate when this not met. This is a bank requirement not ours so why aren't HR reps delivering that news? Do they do anything anymore cause it doesnt seem like they do.

@4ucn+1uTEgIQ5 You’ll be kicking yourself for doing that extra day when you’re let go because that ain’t going to save you.

Thanks for the Office space reference. It reminded me to watch the movie again. It's on Disney+

I'm also doing 1 over the requirement to be in the "above" category.

RTO needs to be based on hours in office. I am so tired of seeing a co worker stroll in at 9:30 and leave at noon as this counts for a day in the office.
Wake up management, and do something about it. It's bullsh-t that I do it right and others get away with this BS

Why can't we just go back to what it used to be before the pandemic. Having the direct boss decide what is best for the group? Not some corporate "dude" that has no idea what goes on in the trenches.

Is there ANYTHING d-mber than the phrase “cross to Ross?”

The company has used the 3 days as a differentiator's between BNY and their peers for getting talent/interns etc…..There has been a lot of time and money put into the technology to track RTO and a lot of talk from the CEO about it. I’d be surprised and also not surprised to see it go to 4 days.

There's not enough room in Pittsburgh for everyone to come in more than 3 days a week. Especially with the cross to Ross.

Just because YOU haven't heard it yet... doesn't mean the powers that be aren't planning the 4 day RTO sometime next year. Don't be surprised when it happens... that's all I'm saying. It IS being discussed at a higher level.

I am getting messaging from management that we should come in enough for our dashboard to be blue - so over the required 60%

Also, overheard a very senior manager talking about promotions and:

  • you can't be promoted if you are only coming into the office 60%
  • fully remote folks can't be promoted

Why not clamp down on the “coffee badgers” and “work from home” employees first. Not sure which group I am least happy about.

@ndx Is not wrong. Management is being informed that managers must come in four days a week beginning in January. And if they do it for managers, you know they will require employees to do the same after a few months.
