Thread regarding Bank of New York Mellon Corp. layoffs

So no mass layoffs before Jan 25?

At least that seems to be the consensus. Not that it provides any solace. January is right around the corner anyway…No rest for the weary.

Commenters who say that HR is determining layoffs - since when do they drive layoffs? Isn’t it the leadership team determined to drive down costs by offshoring?

there were absolutely layoffs in January 2024... one of our groups was hit with that. Whoever the person that said that layoffs were cancelled doesn't have a clue what they are talking about, probably just more rumors that never panned out; there are many rumors like that in the past 20 to 40 years every year.

There are already projected layoffs for Jan 2025 which is not a rumor but HR could also change their mind. These are for strange and bizarre reasons related to excess numbers in certain salary grades. Then to add insult to injury, they are also rumored to be making those guys and gals BE on their appraisals to reduce their bonus for who knows what reasons.

No layoffs in December. Ignore the dirty diapers here. But in January, expect HR to go full reee-taard on reductions. This is a terrible place for Non-Indians to work.
