Do you think there may be small/medium/large Bank of New York Mellon layoffs? Any chatter, news or rumors?

Such whining…
You should have seen the real layoffs.
From Y2K to the toxic assets era we layed off over one third of out entire workforce. None of you will ever see anything like that. Accept your win, you likely will win the prize for the least level of layoffs ever.
Sad to see fake layoffs posted here to scare people.
Anybody knows did Frayman leave the Bank to replace Newman on Seinfeld?
Dude… Wut?
We are at the lowest level of layoffs in over 42 years
Heard from a previous colleague in Oriskany - all left over folks still hanging on will be done by June 2025.
From prior posts/comments, they target Operations in the U.S.
What areas of operations? Can anyone share what locations or states.
Post ID: @3phx+1vjnRp5X It’s reliable. I’m in management. I don’t want to share too much to give myself away.
Is 10% cut overall from a reliable source? Or, is it a rumor?
Post ID: @2opo+1vjnRp5X Yes, it’s 10 percent overall. 2025 will be a sad year at BNY.
10% cut overall??? 5,000 -10,000 cut is a lot!!
In prior posts/comments, a lot of comments mentioned 10-11% cut in Operations only which is around 2,000 employees.
Get ready everyone! 2025 is going to be a massacre! But senior management, and all their DEI check-the-box brown-nose minions, are all on track for their bonuses!
You're all just a number on someone's S/S. When the time comes; as deemed by the overlords, you all be sacrificed in the name of the stockholders. Get comfortable with being uncomfortable and have an exit plan in place..always!
Confirmed - the numbers are still being finalized; will be between 5 to 10 thousand company wide (globally). The target is 10 percent overall. Each LOB, each department, each geographic location will be impacted differently.
@1ucx+1vjnRp5X You’re wrong. The director of our site showed us a slide with employee numbers. I’m assuming that even though the US was shrinking offshore was growing threefold or more. And now they’re trying to get employee count down to pre Covid numbers. Their words. Makes no sense.
It's BNY. Of course there will be layoffs.
Someone used to mention in prior post.
In operations about 10% will be let go next year. They’re trying to get back to the pre Covid numbers.
I think the end goal is to have 1 human employee, probably in India, who flips a switch on in the morning and then flips it off at night.
I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s around 2000. You would think they already laid off so many that they no longer have to but with such a high turnover for senior management people continue to get displaced just as quickly. We do get new clients but the idea is lay off people instead of redeploying while hiring more expensive people.
The site plasters that question across many, if not all, pages around this time every year.
Its an 1800 reduction for 2025
The OP sounds like a bot. Same question on other companies layoffs on this site. Generic question to stir up responses : language with "chatter, news, or rumors" posted many places. If not a bot, unlikely he/she is a current or former employee here.
What response will satisfy you?
Imagine a doctor asking a question like that. Maybe it’s your family doctor, the one who smiles too much and has a waiting room full of dog-eared National Geographics. And here you are, staring at them, wondering if they’ve always had that glint in their eye or if it's just the overhead lights.
Because here’s the kicker: small, medium, or large? It sounds like a drive-thru order. Do you want a side of meaning with that? Maybe a large is too big—overwhelming, even. Maybe a small is too small, disappointing, and leaves you hungry for more.
The question is in the wind now, fluttering around like a stray leaf, a little insane. Not meant to trap you, but it's funny how it feels that way, isn't it?
