@obyu, you might want to read up on the Ex Post Facto clause of Article I, Section 9 and Article I, Section 10 of our constitution if you think you're going to make the crimes retroactive.
If the company takes adverse action against employee efforts to unionize, the legal risks are considerable. Note industry reports indicate JP Morgan employees are taking initial steps to unionize because of recent RTO mandates. BNY (about to be fired for no reason) employees: time to flex people. The alternative is a pink slip - to coming in 2025. Given the sub-par pay at BNY, ridiculous hours, annual (annual! Yeah that’s normal) 401k contributions etc. it’s go-time.
Let them send the bank to Pune!
At least they will be forced to be called "The Bank of Pune"!!
That will be one of the demands of the union.
A union is desperately needed.
And 401K match thefts through targeted layoffs must be reported and given back.
Unethical AF.
I am a former top performer who was let go in order to rip me out of both my bonus and 401K. I am middle aged and feel like this is wage theft, considering there is a retirement crisis. They also forced an NDA for Silence on me - which is supposedly illegal.
After being a top performer and a leader across the firm, HR treated me more unprofessionally and callously than I ever imagined possible. It was surreal.
I AM 100% interested in a UNION if it is open to "alumna".
I am also talking / planning to law enforcement, congress and regulators, the AG in order to stop/outlaw retirement wage theft and be able to make it retroactive and punishable with mandatory jail time.
Retirement protection as well as bonuses to laid off workers MUST be part of union -- Immediate vesting. 3 years vesting schedule is an absolute scam, and they've done it to 100s of employees.
Stand up for justice!!! KEEP us posted. Start an email chain and let us know how to help.
Employees need a union at BNYM more than anyone else on the street.
They do you dirty. Filthy dirty.
Wouldn't solve the problem. We'd only be adding to our troubles. Instead of just dealing with our current incompetent buffoonish management a-s clowns, we'd also be dealing with corrupt self- serving opportunistic union leadership as well!
This would become the Bank of Pune so fast it would make your head spin.
Union employee leverage often starts and becomes stronger with a union picket line when the newly hired "scabs" try to cross the line to get to work. So if you really want to unionize be prepared to use verbal and physical violence against the scabs to protect your interests. That's what unions do. Just ask any long-time union member who joined an actual picket line.
There are many reasons why banks are virtually never unionized.
I would be among the very last to dash your dreams, but would like a note here on how you made out.
WF recently unionized at one branch. How do we start?
Employees would have no leverage, they’d just send the remaining US jobs to India.
Yes!! I am so glad someone posted this because I have been thinking about it.
We need a union to represent us.
This company has been making record profits while continuing to cut and offshore, and gives nothing to us in return.
