Thread regarding Bank of America layoffs

Bank of America is a great place to work

Orders from above gave our managers the power to eliminate whomever they wanted. They would spend hours training the contractors and at the same time restrict information and training from employees. They would begin to pit people against each other to create a feeding frenzy to eliminate who they had grudges against. They would use the words like Flag a message (a term used in the civil war). They would use there personal cell phones to communicate the ambush on people. They would take pictures of sensitive information and of there co-workers. They would use these same instruments to selectively tape there co-workers.

They would try to segregate people and create hazing in the group.

It was like watching the movie “Lord of the flies”. Pathetic managers and directors acting like children and then playing role models during meetings. They would play putt-putt during the day and carry golf clubs from cube to cube to intimidate there employees. The managers direct reports would endorse this behavior thinking it was funny. Where do these nut jobs come from? I guess the labor laws does not address this behavior for managers.

Wow! No wonder they pay off the majority law suites.

In other places we would call this organized crime.

This is a true story told to me by someone and was reported in the news a while ago.

The banks anal security reported trader’s violated internal rules for opening Spam mail. The traders did not know it was Spam until they opened the emails. The Computer Techs said they have no way to filter Spam emails (at the time). Corporate said it is each employee’s responsibility to manager there own career. The manager residing over the Trading Department was told by security (Barney Fife) they were going to fire the entire department. The pissing contest ended with the manager making the determination too let Security fire the employees he did not want based on breaking the rules and keeping a few he did want by making another excuse. Barney Fife made a bonus and the begrudging manager eliminated people he did not like. On paper its looks oooo so honest. It is all about the politics and does not have much to do with honesty, spirit or hard work.

In this example anyone can and will be fired for “being in charged of there own career”.

A derivative of this evil happens every day and HR covers it all up.

To Anonymous87193- Keep your chin up, you are not alone. They cover there tracks by disguising everything. The closest example is the TV Movie 1998 “The Pentagon Wars”. People believe the illusions.

I agree with the list. In spirit, the list ranks a group and you would receive hands on training helping you move above the group. Leapfrogging each employee to a higher proficiency is where the managers should receive bonuses. The managers perverted this and decided to half ass train or attempt to slow (retard) knowledge so they have an excuse to eliminate you. Slight of hand management trickery as we have seen in prior comments. You can fail anyone if you own the rulebook and want vengeance on employees. Everyone should keep your head high and remember you were not let go because you did wrong it is because of a budget issue or one nut job manager did not like you and HR helped them do wrong.

THere is a list and where's we rank is determined by how good of a friend you are with management. This is causing me to have health issues. I am there to work and not suck up to managers who got the position based on who you know.

Reply to Anonymous87727: do not fill out voluntary surveys. Each time they find something not acceptable they seek a larger pool of data or add trick open-ended questions. Give them a nursery rhyme sentence or fill in un-decided, click submit. If pressed for a yes or no give them the worst answer available. This management enjoys playing opposite day. How many times have you made a request to help advance your career and received the opposite?

Based on the comments I have seen. If you are young and dumb, go ahead and work for these people. This bank clearly does not meet the qualifications of being an American. Shame on the stockholders for backing this place "Animal Farm".

Correct me if I am wrong.

The WARN Act is not activated when the following coverage thresholds are unmet:

If a closing or a mass layoff results in fewer than 50 workers losing their jobs at a single employment site;

Bank of America will then spare themselves bad advertisement and money if they fire

1- 49 employees instead (Interesting cover-up).

There are plenty of ways to follow the letter of the WARN Act but not the spirit. For example, for WARN to be triggered, the layoffs generally must occur within a 30-day period, so companies can get around WARN by staggering their job cuts.

Richard Trumka is president of the North Carolina State’s AFL-CIO’s.

Mike Okun has served as General Counsel for AFL-CIO, A partner in the law firm of Patterson Harkavy LLP.

Networking over the internet will help our future. It is time for change!!!

This website should be a sounding board to the AFL-CIO.

Good company run by wrong (I really mean very unqualified) managers. The bank is supposed to have a set of core values and operating principles for the manager(s) to follow but, unfortunately, some managers are running the bank like their own private enterprise and never have to be held accountable for their actions and deeds. The sad part is that the HR always takes the managers side. At the end of the day, the HR would always tell you they were not able to substantiate any of your complaints.

They will be deceived by the dominant ideology through the effective use of the language in a way that they cannot recognize their being and they forget themselves as real human beings. “Animal Farm”.

You must read George Orwell’s "Animal Farm" if you think you might work here.

Time magazine chose the book as one of the 100 best English-language novels (1923 to 2005).

Bank of America is a great place to work. The layoffs are not based on your performance. I was one of 3 people out of 150 that received a exceeds expectations. The highest performance rating you can received. I was also the 3rd oldest employee in the site. All three of us were laid off on the same day. My productivity was twice that of other employees. I had gone to advise and counsel due to something that I was told to do by dragon lady but I feared for my personal safety. Advise and counsel told me the person that had advised me to the thing that I feared for personal safety was wrong and I didn't have to do it. I do know that individuals with verbal and written reprimands were not terminated. They are still with BOFA but they are friends with the management. Was I terminated because of my age or was it retaliation by dragon lady or cost savings or medical expenses? Another thing I noticed was that employees that had large medical expenses for themselves for family members were laid off. Bank of America is self insured and they are not supposed to have access to medical records. The administrator could give BOFA a dollar amount paid by them for each employee but they cannot give specific medical information as this would be a HIPAA violation subject to fines and potential jail time. One thing I know for sure. The lay off letter stated that my work could be absorbed by other employees without an impact. The employees left in my group didn't know how to do the work I performed. They actually called me after I was let go to find out how to do the work. Layoff are financially and emotionally devastating for the employee. The package that BOFA gives you is suppose to give you resources to help you find employment. I have gone to every single one and nothing. I even applied at a fast food chain for minimum wage they wouldn't hire me. They tell you that you are part of a family then when they are through with you they give you the severance and throw you aside like you are trash. Forget trying to get rehired. I applied for my same job and was told I wasn't qualified. A job that I did for over 10 years not qualified. I had planned to retire with BOFA one day. While other employees were leaving and going to other companies I stayed for less money. I was repeatedly told I was part of a family and I had a job for as long as I wanted it. It has been a while since I was laid off and my 401k is almost gone. I had saved in my 401k every pay check for many many years. I'm selling furniture in my large home to make ends meet. After all if I do have to sell my home I will need a smaller place and my biggest fear is that I will have to my pets put down. The individuals making the decision for layoffs will themselves be older one day. Too old for someone to hire but too young for draw social security. I only hope that they have saved money in a 401k or something so they can live without fear of losing their home or putting down beloved pets before they can draw social security. I'm still looking for work at only $15.00 an hour I could keep my home with another part-time job. No much right!

You're kidding right. Anywhere you look at the bank this stuff is going on. Check out Fulfillment, it's a mess. A ton of trickery, shadiness, threatening of jobs, mistreatment of employees. When it's called in to HR the managers talk their way out of it. Then they find out who called in and you pay for it.

Sounds like Bank of America security is behind in reporting policy violations. Will the bank and internal security reject or deny managers communicate work related information over cell phones and are these personnel cell phones capable of taking pictures of sensitive account information. What you cannot see and explain is where the problem is.

Very true. But when you post make sure you know the correct usage for "there" and "their," you'll sound more intelligent.

But I do agree with what you said. High school all over again but with $$$.
