Thread regarding Whole Foods Market Inc. layoffs

Thanks Evan Schmiedehaus STL of Gateway

Want to thank Evan Schmiedehaus, STL of the Gateway store in Austin for the leadership he has displayed during my time at that store. Tomorrow is his last day with Whole Foods and I envy him a bit. He is one of the few STLs that took a stand about the layoffs and I hope him well for his future career. See you tomorrow Evan!

I see he is going back to college to get a degree of some kind. I knew one day he would realize he has a lot to learn, and I'm sure he got sick of saying "I went to San Antonio College for A WHOLE YEAR!!!" He will have the degree framed and hang it in his office next to his certificate of applied psychology from the vaunted flourish center, and his mandate of intercultural necromancy from Alex Lifeson Ministries.

He's a good grocery store manager, but a very limited person. He was lucky to find Whole Foods early in his life. He owned a restaurant when he was 19, 20 years old. He never would have made it.

I worked for several STL's over a decade at Whole Foods and Evan was definitely the LEAST inspirational, motivational, or interesting of them all.

Interesting, didn't have the same glowing "great human being" take on this person given his behavior.

Very intelligent and honest person . There are two ways to know intelligent people at Wholefoods. They never get anywhere beyond a certain position and they all leave the company in frustration because they don't kiss ass and they question unethical decisions.

Yes, thank you Evan. I have appreciated all of our open, honest conversations over the years. Thanks for being a leader with integrity, compassion, and a genuine concern for your team members. GWY will surely miss you and WFM will never be able to replace you. See ya soon!

I worked with Evan in Florida and that guy was amazing to work for. He was never in the office and always walking around the floor with a broom in his hand. I saw him working every department in the store when they were busy and do every job. He was always brutally honest and held people to high standards and I can see how that is off putting to some people but if you worked and didn't make excuses there was no problem. He fought with regional on things all the time I sure most of regional hated him. I've seen him throw customers out of the store the instant they got verbally abusive to tms and he personally stuck up for me when regional was trying to get me in trouble over some pretty nonsense.

I consider him one of the best bosses I've had at any job.

When I worked at a SW store at one time as a backup TMSL I saw one of the STL bonus checks. It was $30,000. More than an average TM makes in one year. And most STL will make anywhere from $35 an hour plus.

What about that bonus system? Seems to me the salaries of our store and regional leadership is more than enough without the ridiculous bonuses. I would love to know what my STL and ASTL's make in bonuses.

The ASTL's have the easiest job at the store. Some can be helpful and others never get out of their office chair.

Anonymous182659 - Evan is super honest which is rare at Wholefoods. If you are allergic to the "truth" i can totally understand your view point and you can keep the back stabbers with Halloween masks even at Christmas day.

STL's aren't taking a stand, they are taking a bonus.

My current STL is a pompous SOB! He gave a "rally speach" the following day of the layoffs and said "it's all apart of the business" which rubbed everyone the wrong way. Ive been at PKY for 5+ years and the store morale is at an all time low. Ive talked to other employees and they are really feeling the hate for whole foods. Our store lost almost 20 hard working people. Ive seen and heard stories about current employees stealing, grazing, and "going through the motions" now because they don't feel appreciated. I miss our old STL Scott Wilcox who is now at HLV! Greatest STL ever! F Hollie and F Aguillar! Racist, self centered, assholes! Always catering to minorities and showing favoritism and trying to get in female customers and employees panties because they think they are big shit.

Would like to hear more about this person and the story. I can't begin to imagine anyone at my store taking a stand and leaving , especially the STL
