We need specifics! If anyone has them please share. I need to know how long I should bank on (grocery buyer left after SW layoff).

It's been in the works for a year.
It makes sense for a company in this bad of shape to be parceled out and sold in chunks, rather than for one company to try and tackle the monumental problems inherent with wf. But when? Jan 4th seems too soon.
Definitely a buyout coming in January. They will lie about until the bitter end. That's the way they do business.
Uh, stupid...
I can see them closing stores down in the very near future. There is simply no way that they can continue hemorrhaging money like this.
HEB is well managed, disciplined.Strong ties to bankers. Strong ties to WFM insiders
Just a second ago the shares were down almost 1.9% while the Dow is only off 0.2% on the day. The Street may have sniffed out a rumoured buyout but maybe it's at some kind of discount? This is a new 52 week low for the stock: $28.86 as of a few minutes ago. Of course no one can say where shares will go. Normally when there's a buyout there is some kind of premium paid for the shares to induce shareholders to sell. But that's when a company is doing pretty well, or shares have gotten oversold. However perhaps in this case it's the name that's more valuable than the operations. This is getting interesting. The loss so far today may just be due to talk about weak comps over Thanksgiving. These things are always a mystery until the news is actually confirmed.
Typo in last post: Meant "the" not "there".... Auto-correct drives me crazy
We shall see. Personally I think H-E-B would be crazy. Taking over this thing is like attaching a lead weight to a hot air balloon. I'm starting to think a takeover won't happen until there underperforming locations are shuttered and regional bureaucrats have all been given pink slips. There's more work to do.

Unless you have specific information, you are helping no one with layoff information. Please use specifics or do not post.
The plot thickens.
