Whole Foods has indeed become very greedy by continuing to open more stores without taking care of their employees in the ones already existing. For a store with a true mission to help their employees succeed in turn, improving profit........you have failed. Shame on you John Mackey!!! What happened? the green stuff in your wallet got the best of you. Now Whole Foods is just another grocery store. Mr. Mackey......that's where greed has gotten you. You have lost my business. Healthy eating specialists made a difference in the life of so many individuals. These people would have never come into your overpriced store without the hard work and education of the Healthy Eating Specialist, who were paid a sorry salary for all of the business they brought into your stores. That is what I call lack of gratitude.

All the customers would complain about canola oil on the hot and salad bar but WFM didn't care. Those of us who's jobs were eliminated were in the treanches trying to calm the customers and protect our "values" Lot of good that got us...,,.appreciations? Kiss my ORGANIC ASS!
The healthy eating specialist was one of few positions in recent years that involved lots of training, ironically. Most of the other positions leave you to sink or swim. It's been somewhat of a joke between tms, talking about the lack of training at least. I know there was an emphasis on buyer and supervisor training in the last 2-3 years, and now those positions are being eliminated. Makes sense for a company so focused on efficiency.
YEP...my position was eliminated and they spent god knows how much money on me for all kinds of training. One of my main roles was to train and educate team members, so they could interact, with knowlwdge, with customers. Yes THAT, in my opinion, is what set WFM FAR APART from the competition. Oh well, not now. stupid
Excellent posts! Culinary Demo Specialists were on the frontlines interacting with customers and up selling so they got rid of them? Healthy Eating Specialists and demos made WFM SPECIAL...now there r a bunch of kids who don't know what gluten free means! They let the knowledgeable workers go. Why would I bother to shop there?
They've replaced them all with new and improved slogans, recipe websites and coupons for discounts on Starkey Water.
Were you a healthy eating specialist? The one in our store was the bomb. She supported everyone, didn't judge you if you were downing a cheeseburger on break. Everyone loved her. She also brought so much money and customers in, through tours, cooking classes, etc. It was foolish to let her go, but not a surprise, with what this company tends to do to save on 'costs'.
