Thread regarding Whole Foods Market Inc. layoffs

WFM Instagram

Used to work in marketing so I follow almost every instag account. It's hilarious that my feed is filled with 30 of the same post under each stores account. So stupid.

Oh good, let's talk price and quality. Fresh baked? LOL!!!! Yall may not know this, but at least one region makes its cookies by scooping premade dough out of buckets and throwing it onto cookie sheets. They're total crap. Chips Ahoy make better cookies. They taste like Pop and Fresh by Pillsbury but without the pop or the fresh. More like flat and lifeless. Then there was the insanely salty prep foods salads which tasted like you just poured a salt shaker into your mouth, and of course, as 186868 mentioned, the overpriced Half and Half. Our 365 brand was closer to skim milk than cream. I used to stop by a conventional grocer nearby to pick up the half gallon size half and half which cost less and was always fresh and very rich. The ground beef always included lots of bone and grisle, every time. Once I got the fish taco trimmings and they were all nasty and spoiled. Then there was the time I got a chimichanga, the featured item at the grill. No one was buying them and I found out why. For $6.00 I got this tiny, grease-soaked pile of glop that tasted like salted goo with a couple of tiny pieces of chicken floating in it. Came to find out that they had cut costs by just using salt instead of half the ingredients it was supposed to have, and old oil and used day-old rotisserie chicken. Front End told me that I was just the latest complaint...probably two dozen people had complained about that product over the past three days. Finest quality? Nope. But good thing regional made sure the oranges were stacked properly.

I wondet if they will not bother to have ancient computers in the break room after they crash. The slowest computers in town were no longet on 24 hours back in 2014.

Our store had a store events board posted in a public place. Well, once marketing was cut they just erased the board and just left it there. They didn't even bother following up on the events that were planned for the month. Customers have noticed and commented. I've even seen sarcastic comments scatched into the big empty board. Leave it to the store leadership to make worse a poor mandate from the powers that be.

Everyday I still check my store's FB page--no change in two weeks! Used to have posts about classes, special team members, in-store demos, whatever. No more.

Today when I was out in the community, a small-business owner said she used to shop at Whole Foods, but 'it seems like something changed about three years ago. Used to be that workers bent over backwards to help you, and you saw the same faces all the time. Now there's constant new faces, prices have gone up (she cited her benchmark--the half and Half), and quality has gone down. The prepared food is all pre-made, just like all other grocery stores.'

Theyll probably do away with individual store accounts and consolidate it to metro. Then limit store specific events, if they let you do any at all.

I stopped following the wfm crap long ago.

I used to have access to the store's spredfast account and once the consolidation happened, I don't. I followed probably 50 WFM IG accounts on my personal account just to get ideas. Now i couldn't give less of a shit. And my subteam's comp is down around 15%. It doesn't make sense to have a metro marketing position when each store is so different. In my city, we have stores that have been built decades apart. I used to have competitions with other teams to see who could get the most likes or comments or reach but now I haven't been able to post in a month or two. Oh well!
