Thread regarding Whole Foods Market Inc. layoffs

Immersions.

As a company, we are struggling. We've had to make severe cuts at meny levels, including laying off some great workers last year and cutting many more down to part time. Stores and regional payrolls shrink whilst global increases. And also, why the f**k is the company paying hundreds, if not thousands of dollars to send freeloading losers to glorified fat camps in exotic locales? These "immersions" should have been at the top of the money saving chopping block. Almost everyone ive known to go to one (usually the people who partake go to several) are the laziest and most useless of all team members....

The only immersion that will work for me is to immerse myself within another company.

The express train to nowhere. One dude lost like 50 loaves of bread weight/size and was paraded like a new Tesla car. Two months later he gained 100 loaves of bread more in weight/size. Go figure!

Immersions are for Team Building exercises and morale building, as well as for "Wellness."

That philosophy is working well, don't you think?

Just remember! It's not all WFM funding. We all make this a reality through our contributions to Whole Planet and Whole Kids Foundation. Bottom line we as employees make WFM look good!

The people that run the Immersions are businesses that I am sure are under a contractual agreement with WFM, i.e. the Company is required to send a certain number of participants every year. I would think that at some point WFM will choose not to renew those agreements and they will go away. FYI they can be very helpful for TM's who are on medications to control health conditions that could be controlled by a healthier diet, therefore saving a lot of money in the long run (paid sick leave, STD, LTD). Also, participation is limited to one Immersion per TM Lifetime. It is one of the few programs that actually supports TM happiness and well being. There is a strict criteria that must be met prior to attending but as with everything there are people who go and aren't really serious about it.

Can we vote next benefits package time on whether to keep fat camp or use the money to lower our health insurance deductible???

Yes indeed, these "Immersions" are a very pointless, unnecessary expense and it is disgraceful that they are still going on while good people are losing their jobs and benefits are being cut. Typical of the corrupt corporation, which WFM has devolved into.

Yeah I got those emails and had the same reaction. Same sentiment for those cheesy talent benches. (Those are designed to accelerate your potential to move up. It's high school all over again...).

They want everyone to feel like everything is normal as usual.

People are scrambling to find positions elsewhere in the company or outside of the company.

Immersions...hah!
