Thread regarding Bank of America layoffs

Laid off at 60!

After working for BOA since I was 35, I was laid off 5 days after I turned 60. Try getting another job when you are 5 years from retirement! Thanks BOA!

off topic -- well kind of--- if funny and sad to see the young guns fresh out of college walking around BofA in Charlotte, with their pressed shirts, shiny shoes and ties. Thinking this 1st job is the best and they are going to make a difference. If they make it to 60 at any company they will look like use middle-aged warriors , slacks, button down or golf shirt, might have shave... The job (WAR) has been hell for the last 20 years but by the grace of God we get up put the boots on and go to battle everyday...

Laid off at 60!- keep on fighting we are pulling for you.....

Age Descrimination? Can't call Saul in NC anymore.. New state law just enacted, have lost right to sue in state, must go federal.. Good luck.

@GSaPPvn-2qxh - thanks for that, I felt the same but didn't feel like wasting the energy on someone so young who's youth is demonstrated by their arrogance and outright stupidity. I have learned at this bank to just let these morons go round trying to impress everyone with their so called intellect, while I'm marching many paces in front of them always, and appreciate the opportunities to let their mouths demonstrate how stupid they actually are to anyone smart enough to hear. Only people who never hear is themselves, because their arrogance prevents it.

It's really tough and no fun at all working for this company. The work culture is radically changed for the worse. Younger workers were laid off and now I had to deal with dead weights who are over 70 years old. I have no freaking idea why they'd keep them around still and force younger workers who are more productive and dependable than these septuagenarians. Wish they'd offer me the package already. I'd take that to the bank, any bank but BofA.

But apparently all early retirement gets you is the chance to continue paying insurance rates through Bank of America - except that they will no longer contribute to the cost. Not sure why anyone would go that route. It used to be a nice to have when insurance companies could deny you for pre existing, etc. but that's illegal now.

Id thank BofA for 15 years tenure. That is pretty good nowadays. As for the person who commented about only middle age only having strong work ethic and knowledge. I think it depends on the individual. Some people pick up things quickly and some are just dead weight.

Sorry to hear it but you ARE eligible for your retirement from BofA. You are over the 59 1/2 year qualifier!

The only workers with a strong work ethic and knowledge are middle age or almost to retirement- I am the middle age-er.... Sorry to hear about them letting you go.. what type of work did you do? The only bright side is there are jobs out there, much better than a year or 2 ago... Good luck!!!
