Thread regarding Bank of America layoffs

The job posting process is frustrating.

I've applied for positions which I was well qualified for internally and only get as far as "hiring manager has your application" only to get the no thanks email days later that they are going with more qualified applicants.

Then over the course of the past couple weeks I still get job alerts for the same position opening?!?

Convinced they want cheap labor that barely speak English.

I was laid off 10 years ago from B of A and I see nothing has changed. I applied for numerous internal positions that I was well qualified for, but was always told there were others more qualified. I was part of a group that was "over 50" and will swear to this day that was the bottom line!

There's nothing wrong with H1B as long as the person is directly hired by BAC and not through a string of contracting companies based in India.

Stop being so naive and rant on about H1B's. You have no idea and neither have you bothered to look at the other side of the story - not that you care. But losing a job is a big thing - H1B or not - messes life for everyone. And yes, H1B's get laid off too.

My work is the thing of the past. If you're a my work employee you have to go back to the office if you get a new role. No exceptions.

Went through the same issue; if the internal recruiter even bothered reaching out to me I never not once EVER made it past them. Ninety percent of the time I never received anything other than the automated 'thank you for your interest we're pursuing other candidates' response.

I'm done with Bank of America. They don't want hardworking, qualified talent. They want a bunch of mindless drones.

I'm wondering if anyone can confirm what i have been told unofficially. If you are mywork and are applying for internal job postings you have 0 chance at getting them. In addition to that i have heard that if you aren't in a hub location you have 0 chance of getting a position in TI.

Why? Because that's the process : post openings to show need, conduct interviews of at least 3 candidates plus the person they want to sponsor for H1b or Greencard, document saying everyone else interviewed was not qualified enough and push the paperwork through. Immigration services also only wants to see paperwork. They won't come find the rejected (US citizen) candidates and see if they were qualified and wrongfully rejected. Paperwork goes through, congratulations America, you added one more legal entry to your census.

I'm experiencing the exact same thing when posting for jobs I'm more than qualified for in the same job band that I was in prior to being laid off. I'll make it through phase 1 only to receive a decline notification a month later. I was called to interview a fee times and the hiring manager already had Temps in mind to hire. Why bother posting the positions or interviewing candidates when you already know who you plan to hire?

Doesn't BAC have a unit in India called BACI? Employees working for BACI are "technically" working for BAC? So would this then be

a) Company applies only for minimum number of US based H1B visas (read: under the radar) toward full time hire of cheap labor in US. H1b visas go on to become Green-card holders (process takes more than 5 years, thereby locking them in at low pays for this time period) and consequently citizens of USA.

b) the remaining need for cheap labor is fulfilled by BACI folks (in addition to contractors) who come to US on more easily available B2-visa or L-visa, etc for short period of time (less than a year) and this is a win-win for both BAC and the imports. BAC pays them in-region pay (cheap) and only pays them a $ stipend for expenses in US, thereby saving a boatload of $. The imports here in US do not have to pay taxes on the $s earned, group up in fours or fives in 2-bedroom apartments, thereby saving their stipend US $s to take home extra big-money or shop branded stuff.

Probably the reason for short-termers/ Indians swarming the BAC buildings?

If this is so, don't believe there is anything illegal about it....only morally..., but then this is a for-profit institution.
