Thread regarding Bank of America layoffs

Unemployment Benefits

I was recently laid off located in Dallas, Texas area. I did receive a severance package. Does anyone know if we can get unemployment benefits while receiving severance package in Texas? I spoke to someone in TWC (Texas Workforce Commission) and they said it depends on the type of severance BAC gave me. I may be able to get the unemployment only after the severance runs out. The unemployment benefit is not a lot, but it will help with the expenses. I'm hanging in there.

I received unemployment during my severance, I'm in California and applied the very day I was laid off, within 3 weeks my first payment came through. Go ahead and apply everything will be just fine, don't worry remember there is life after Bank of America.

I was laid off with 6 months of severance and was told BY the unemployment office that I am not eligible to even file for unemployment until my severance expires. The laws have changed and the MAX for unemployment is 13 weeks at $350 per week TOPS. Start searching for full-time work immediately and forget about ever working for a bank again, unless it's a small bank or credit union. BOA is going down.

I'm going through this now. Been laid off since March and severance runs out at end of month. I applied for unemployment around the second week my severance and started receiving unemployment a few later. Go ahead and get started now!

I was also recently laid off in Ft Worth...I went ahead and registered with TWC as I plan on using their resources to assist in getting another job. I was told I could apply for unemployment now or when the severence ends...either way the income is reported to TWC but in the event I am not gainfully employed when severence ends then that's one less step I have to take in getting that benefit if needed. For my situation I would rather wait and see if unemployment is needed...hopefully not.
