365 by WFM looks like an upscale ALDI

Wonder how the prices are otherwise more like an upscale Aldi that comes with a reputation. The fancy gadgets won't last that long because customers are super rough. Reminds me of the Wholefoods information centers - they just gather dust.

I only partially agree with the original post "It looks like an upscale Aldi". I think it looks like an Aldi alright, but without the "upscale" part!!

Frankly I was shocked when I saw the video of the first 365 store. Even though I think 365 is doomed, I did think they would at least make the stores have a bit of character or personality to them. Instead, it was cold, sterile, outdated and completely lacking any warmth or personality whatsoever (kind of like Whole Foods's corporate leadership)!

EXACTLY. No one goes into a store to mess with technology. The LAST thing I want to do is share some icky iPad that someone else has been fingering. I don't want to price my own oranges either. I'll take the oranges up and either weigh them at self checkout or the cashier can handle it. BTW... This will last until customers start weighing up pine nuts and labeling them walnuts. At our store customers regularly got away with stuff like that. Also all the iPads broke or lost their connection and then gathered dust, and there was no cell signal. I'm not there to play with an iPad and wade through a bunch of crap.

The technology will require so much assistance and eventually break. I wonder if the one full time job at the store is a technician.
