What are sign makers doing nowadays?

I don't know why we need them in the stores anymore, what do they do?

Truth all over this thread. Our signmaker spends more time correcting other people's errors than working on regular stuff. The worst offenders BY FAR are the regional people who send him wrong stuff ALL THE TIME, then want to know why the signmakers are frustrated as heck and aren't getting floor signs done..

we always got blamed for typos and pricing issues, especially from produce...the ones requesting the damn signs and later.on making them on their own. As if I'm suppose to know the plu, price, measurement etc for every damn item in the store. Then when I'd point out I never even made the sign in the first place, instead of remaking it on their own theyd expect us to do it...then complain we had a bad attitude.

how about the 1000s of feet of wasted paper and toner because some jackass told us a price for a massive banner, confirmed it no less than 4 times then as soon as its almost finished printing in all its 8 foot glory they say "oh uh

..sorry I tried to come.by earlier to tell ypu it was wrong. I was looking at the wrong ad week"...ask for a reprint, and come back 5 minutes later.asking when itll be done and to also tell you they need 75 signs laminated (encapsulated) but they cant do it because they broke their own laminator and also didnt order supplies last week (so they need paper and lam from YOUR budget that gets watched like a hawk) and have to leave "because of OT". And here I am looking at the clock thinking, you motherfucker, cry me a river and drown in it. I was suppose to be off 2.5 hours ago.

THAT is only 2% of the constant onslaught of bullshit we have to deal with.

It's so true about the mistakes... Jesus christ the mistakes. When I first saw this post asking what the signmakers do I almost responded that they're probably crying in the bathroom on their lunch breaks from frustration. That's what I used to do. So glad I'm not there anymore! I don't even drive by the building anymore if I can help it. Onward and upward!

When I was at Whole Hell-Whole, the store's GA and assistant GA had to spend their days correcting clusterf after clusterf with pricing, graphics, peripherals and instructions (or lack thereof) from the Regional Idiots, also known as the Regional A-holes. They would get graphics with the wrong layout, preprinted materials that were off-color or damaged in some way, wrong prices CONSTANTLY in part because neither regional nor our GAs had a tie-in to our world-famous 4-letter price push system...and even when they worked with the TLs or SSI, the prices kept changing, minute by minute depending whether regional had done the strong bong hits or 5-7 hits of acid. Then there were the 1000-2000 Wednesday promo flyers and "Hot" weekend deals that might say "$2.99/each" instead of "$2.99/lb", or that failed to note that not all flavors were included in the promotion, or that got cancelled at the last minute because some Regional Idiot decided the promo would be too costly. So the flyers just got recycled. My favorite was when the Regional Idiots ran a newspaper ad in the local weekly, and had all these items and prices...but FORGOT to say which store. Yep, it had no store name, no logo, no address. Then they tried to pin the blame on our GAs when they had absolutely no knowledge of that ad. Welcome to the circus y'all.

SGAs DO more then anyone.Putting up with the constant mistakes coming from the regional idiots that get paid too much. And while we're talking about MRKT why did they let all the CDS s go? They were the ones that drove sales, listened and helped customers, created an atmosphere and were on the frontlines giving the customers the WFM EXPERIENCE that died with their exit.

Whoever posted this original thread is an idiot and most likely has tons of missing signs.

Just because you don't know what the GA does doesn't mean they are any less necessary than any other TM. I guarantee they've picked up the slack for a lot of teams that didn't care about their sales or programs. Once SLAW rolls out, the stores will understand what all the teams will have to do that was done by ONE person.

What do they NOT do????? And they're not "sign makers", they're Graphic Artists. They support your team and all Marketing events, programs, social media, etc. In other words, driving sales and getting people in the store.
