All the core values in the world mean nothing with executives and regional chieftains who don't know how to run a @%$&*ing chain of grocery stores. You work for idiots. No matter what you do or believe, the outcome will be the same. The company's been mismanaged so the correct solution is for the top executives to resign.

GIKO...you got some brown stuff on your lip...you should be ashamed that you have given up...good TM's give in to change when it is positive...just because you and your fat-cat friends don't like the solution the TM base has given you; it does not mean the TM base is not providing one...stop thinking about money and start thinking with your heart...you type like you are giving a CA (remember when it was a corrective action and not a write up?...it WAS a place of love and learning and now place of judgement) You need to open your eyes ( and maybe your soul)

Wow. As another long-term TM/TL I read your little speech and wonder if you are really that idealistic, or are you just that clueless? Let me go through it in order, more or less. It's not called 'backing us into a corner.' It's called 'getting rid of us.' And you aren't thinking clearly if the only options you can think of are: being bought out (chances are slim) or being unionized (chances are none.) Another option to think of is: a whole lot of us (TLs and ATLs) are going to be eliminated because the bigwigs in Austin think they can save $260 million a year. That is two hundred and sixty MILLION dollars per year and your butt (and mine) don't stand a chance against that kind of target. Granted, they will not end up saving that much in the RIFs as it is likely some number a layoff consultant came up with. Yes, you are correct in that we need to work together to do the best in this situation for that is what employees in our situation always do wherever they work. I think the way to do it is coping with this new situation. Coming up with solutions is what good TMs should do. What you say about not worrying about margin, labor, or shrink is just ludicrous. We need to be skilled operators now more than ever. And waiting for regional and/or global to come up with the solutions is not a good idea. You just may be waiting a long time and get your walking papers as thanks for your loyalty! All of us (from buyers and supervisors to ATLs, TLs and those in store leadership) need to be doing our very best in our jobs every day. And that is not some idealistic crap. It is just doing our job. This is not a movie where a bunch of patriots rage against the tyranny of outsiders or a pirate ship where we all sink together. This a place where we all are an important part of a million dollar business so let's do our best. And if you have options, start thinking about a 'Plan B.'

As a 15 year TM/TL I won't fight for more corporate responsibility and lack of community and culture. We all worked for a mission based company at one point and we poured our hearts into that mission. Every day our Team Member base looks at our "CORE VALUES" on the wall of every store and knows we are living a lie. We were not a business rather a mission based company that promoted community within our stores as well as outside. As I perceive, this is the end of the great experiment of "Conscious Capitalism" and the beginning of "Wag the Dog Corporatism" and we need to be transparent with our message before the social networked public outs us. Our brand is strong but our "CORE" is on life support. Our regional and global leadership need to understand that terms like ATTRITION, SOP, and CONSOLIDATION carry huge weight with our team members and should be used lightly rather than adopting them as "CORE" nomenclature. Our company leadership is backing a large amount of passionate "CORE VALUE" patriots in a corner. The few outcomes I can think of are not positive (WFM bought out, UNIONIZED). These are the sum of all the fears we felt through the years and have tried to avoid when we felt like "ONE STORE, ONE TEAM, ONE REGION, ONE COMPANY". Now we have become secretive and translucent. I pray we don't become opaque between our ranks. If we are "ONE TEAM" then we need to ask each other for help solving the situation form within. I love you all you Whole Foods Market patriots out there. Do not go quietly into the night. I implore all of you to rage our mission against the tyranny of outsiders (WALL STREET). If we trully are sinking then we will do it together. Let us show everyone what a great company Whole Foods Market was. Don't worry about margin, labor or shrink., Wait for our regional and global counterparts to come to us about it with solutions. Our job is to be a community of love, learning and excellence. Until this is realized "WALLSTREET FOODS MARKET" can foot the bill. We are are great. We are one. We were WHOLE FOODS MARKET.

Let the TL vs TL battle royale begin! Best of luck to all contenders, if you win you get to be the leader of a heaping pile of dung!
