Thread regarding Bank of America layoffs

I've been praying for severance for a while now.

It's gotten to the point that I'm asked to complete 60 days worth of work in two weeks and within those two weeks I get emails or IMs from different people, at least 2-3 times a day, to report on progress.

Same questions, already answered in system of record, but nobody bothers to look in there or God forbid they communicate with each other before they ask you yet again. The most annoying thing is being harassed with these updates, I call them TPS reports like in Office Space, while I'm in the middle of the meeting or trying to finish something to achieve the deadline.

Then you have contractor folks who have no idea what they're doing and you end up doing their job too because if you don't, you will get yelled at in the meeting in front of everyone else.

Whenever I hear email or messenger sound I get a mini anxiety attack because I don't want to get yelled at again.

If they would just leave us alone to finish the actual work, there would be no need for another update.

put MOC on DND and get sh*t done. Let your phone go to vmail. Only respond to you direct manager and up. Save off standard update text an cut/paste it into any requests for status. Works for me.

It's easy to get on the list. Start speaking your mind. Speak up on the redundancy and futility of some of the work being asked to be done. Ask questions during town halls and round tables. You'll get on the next list. Good luck.

For people that have put in the time there, wait for severance.... However, as others said, have a plan for when it does happen. The timing might be good and you'll be bringing in 2 paychecks while you work your new job and wait until severance runs out.

Our resumes are updates but after everything they put us through, we deserve severance. And I don't care about accolades, connections etc. anymore- bring on the "quick little meeting". I'm ready for some normalcy.

Instead of praying for severance update your resume or make plans now and start doing them. Remember, it's all over when you get to work, have your quick little meating and your boss walks you out! All loyalties, hard-work, connections, and achievements vanish immediately, so be prepared.

I do the actual work in my group, then have 9 levels of QA to critique my work after I do it. Reminds me of a construction site where 1 guy digs the hole and 5 guys stand around watching him do the work.

And don't get me started on Call Monitoring. Cut that entire group now. Useless!

It's sadly reassuring that the fire drills are the same everywhere. I've also prayed for severance
