Thread regarding Bank of America layoffs

4Q Layoffs not necessarily bad

If you get laid off too early in the year, you are not likely to collect your bonus. If you are laid off later, often they will pay your bonus or at least a prorated portion which is nice since it is often difficult to find a new position late in the year since like BAC, most large companies generally try to push new hire requisitions into the next year at that point.

Bear in mind that they will be smaller than what you would have expected!

Ok, the OP was not agreeing with layoffs, just the fact that if you get laid off now, bonus' are/should be included (if you are eligible) than being laid off earlier in the year.

WOW! Sorry to have caused such angst, I was simply trying to find the silver lining in all this mess and distress. The environment has become so toxic and there are more than a few people on these posts who have typed that they are practically begging to get a package so they can move on, especially people who have 20+ years and don't want to risk walking away and leaving severance money on the table but are physically and emotionally spent from walking on thin ice month after month. Paranoia seems to be running rampant and there are conspiracy theorists around every corner.

HR is watching this board, The HR looser ran out of one department into ours and they said lets find out if that is a current employee and fire them as all the mangers huddled. Interesting on how they play on this board to try to make it look like all is normal.

@JBuMCRX-1uvz - no idea what you are talking about. pretty sure we're all on the same page. I think you need to wake up. this isn't the 1st time i've seen "is hr running this board?" responses. (likely from you.) it was helpful advice when the poster gave the bonus info. doesn't mean s/he was saying its ok to get let go.

IS BOA HR running this board? People are acting like being laid off is not a bad idea and you are acceptable on the idea if you missed the cutoff that you do or do not get a bonus.

Wake up!! There should be no layoffs if the CEO and Executive are doing a good job.

You should receive all of your bonus no matter if you were fired unwillingly or laid off because you

put your tears and sweat into your job. They have already taken away pensions. Now they are splitting hairs with bonuses and layoffs and you feel this is acceptable. Wake up. The executives and CEO are taking money from the employees and redistribution of wealth to their own pockets. Not to mention we are sponsoring the current NASCAR and GOLF events. OO not too mention, look around ladies because there are not many males left. BOA is paying cheaper labor to hire woman.

@JBuMCRX-1rxg - That's exactly what I was saying. I know several people that were laid off in the May - August cycle and did not get anything in terms of bonus.

@JBuMCRX-1qbb - sorry to disappoint, not from HR - just someone who was fortunate enough to receive my bonus when I was laid off late last year.

Last year people laid off in Nov and Dec recieved 75% of their prior year bonus. I think the OPs point was if you were laid off in June or July you would probably get 0%

If you are laid off early in the year Feb+ - you've gotten your last year bonus. So what is your point?

I'm not in HR but last I heard, you do receive your prorated bonus.
