WFM Competitive Advantage?

http://www.investopedia.com/articles/company-insights/092816/how-sustainable-whole-foods-competitive-advantage-wfm.asp

"Whole Foods' strong brand identity is likely its greatest source of competitive advantage. The company has established itself as the leader in the organic and natural food segment, and has invested heavily in store quality and customer service. These factors differentiate it from other grocers and they have fostered a relatively loyal customer base. To maintain this reputation, the company will have to continue ranking among the industry leaders in facility investment. It will also likely incur high labor expenses to keep customer service up to its high standard. These drags on earnings and cash flow are partially offset by increased pricing power."

Funny how everyone knows that the team members are one of the biggest advantages of whole foods except whole foods.

WFM Competitive Advantage---sounds like a bit of an oxymoron to me! WFM has frittered away whatever advantages they may have once had. In their arrogance they failed to pay attention as times changed and competitors moved in and grabbed market share. WFM has lost many customers, many shareholders (if the stock price is any indicator!) and many of their very best and most talented team members.

"Funny how everyone knows that the team members are one of the biggest advantages of whole foods except whole foods." How sad but true!

Yes the SOP is crap.they cant get the trucks to the store in a timely fashion for tl to schedule labor accordingly.also why dont they have the shipping everyday so inventory in back can be kept small.who gives the warehouse set days off??

SOP only works if you have enough resources to pull it off. Everyone is stretched so thin at the store level, you have to prioritize and some things just don't get done...SOP or not.

We need to lose the numerous VP positions company wide. I'd like to see them combine regions only to allow for less regional and vp positions. The savings would be more substantial than losing a handful of $17 hr loyal, experienced tms in the store.

Leadership at the top is trying desperately to impress with all of this SOP crap. I'm hoping it's a sign that some folks on top are on their way out. SOP will not bear the fruit they are hoping for. SOP has great intentions, but as a ground level buyer I can tell you SOP is totally unrealistic. Laughable is more like it.
