Thread regarding Bank of America layoffs

Massachusetts Unemployment

Anyone know if I take the payments option, can I still collect unemployment? I can't seem to get a clear answer and this late in the year for tax purposes I'd rather not take a lump sum...

In Illinois, you can get unemployment while collecting severance. In Indiana, you cannot get unemployment until the severance has run out. Each state is different.

Yes you can take the payment option and collect unemployment in MA only if you have to sign a document that does not allow you to sue the bank. I was laid off in March and am collected unemployment while getting severance.

Citi in NY only allowed lump sum. Over here you are eligible for unemployment if you answer "no", you are not receiving any other money from employment. My friend answered "yes" and was denied unemployment.

I hadnt heard of any layoffs in Massachusetts. Anyways, when i was layed off in 2014 i got payments and you could apply for unemployment only after your severance had run out. Not sure if its still that way.
