Getting PT20

What are my chances of becoming PT20 after my 90 days? Is it something I have to beg for? Is there a consecutive week rule over 20 hours where they have to make me PT20? Will they cut my hours that one week so I won't qualify? Thanks

Thanks ozta! You've given me hope! I'm not sure what a pbs is, but I went to the person who is handling the HR type stuff at my store since we don't have one. I think she is a TMSL or something. My TL was mad at me for going to her.

if that's true, you need to go to your pbs and ask about it. skip your TL and go straight to the pbs. if the pbs won't help you, call tms.

then again, your pbs should have flagged you in the hour/average report he or she sends out. you either have a sh--ty TL or a sh--ty pbs.

My average has always been over 20. Right now I'm at 18 weeks with 21.36. I haven't been able to get an exact reason yet, but the only thing I can think of is that it is because my TL asked me to come in early or work a day I wasn't scheduled.

is your official 6 week average actually over 20? or does it just feel like that? on my team we had several tms that we kept at like 19.5

Just an update. My average is still over 20 and they won't give me PT 20.

What will my TL think if I apply for other positions?

best bet is to wait for other positions to open up (even on another team) and apply for those. i was an atl in the south region and in our team people never went from pt to pt20 (or pt20 to FT). if we had a ft leave, then everyone would kinda shift upwards into whole new positions if that makes sense.

it was the only way we could manage labor... have a bunch of people pt that we could just work 8 hours a week if we had to depending on the labor band - and how it was constantly changing on us month to month :(

We definitely have one of those! Not saying he deserves to be fired, just that we have one. I guess I can get a feel for my leadership depending on how he is treated.

Ya thats a safe bet...if you are not careful with your leadership group in the store they can blast you off in a minute...right now you are under the radar... leadership works on terming old timers on the job as they are usually full time and up on the pay scale

So you think I should wait until I'm voted on to say anything? From personal experience it seemed almost impossible to get fired after the probationary period.

Chances are that you will be ripped off and not get your status bumped up fairly...and if you complain you risk being termed..wfm is committed to a crooked system and has no plans of leveling this playing field....need Dept of labor to put a boot up corps ass

Thanks. Glad to hear it's average and not consecutive. Sixth week was just posted and I've been well over 20 every week. They also gave me three days my first week which was much better than my last job which was just orientation. Do you know if it's scheduled hours or worked?

Ask your TL if they are able to move you to a PT20 status; moving up a status isn't guaranteed at any point. Some regions require all status changes (up the ladder, anyway, never for someone changing from FT to PT20 or PT that I ever saw) to be posted as a new job and make the TM apply for the position (with no actual guarantee that the applying TM will get the status change depending on how dickish the TL is). They may cut your hours so you wont qualify for the "automatic" PT20 bump; scroll down on this page a bit to see the thread dedicated to how that works. Basically they look at your 8 week average of hours worked. If your average is 20+, there's a good chance you may get bumped to PT20. If the average is 19.99 hours or lower, you'll stay PT. And it is common practice to work someone outside of their status for several weeks in a row and then cut their hours so they don't get automatically bumped into another status.
