We were told by our team leader to check our schedules daily because they might be changing (due to labor). I went in today and my shift today and tomorrow got changed (cut by and hour) and the schedule for next week changed after it was posted. I will add that I am a full time ling time tm. I did not think they could do that! Any input?

In your TL's defense, Regional Finance/Leadership didn't have labor budgets back from Global until very late this year. We are only in Week 2 or 3 of Fiscal Period 1 and our Region was instructed to remove an additional $3.5M from the budget for Q1. STLs didn't get their assigned labor until after the new year started. It's a cluster from to to bottom.
I usually finish my work 2 hours early, so I'm given a new task that takes an hour and then told to clock out. What my TL doesn't realize is that the reason I finished early is because I didn't take my lunch. I just take my lunch and then take an hour and a half to do the task.
I can speak to this and no they can't do that. Once you get time off it is done because you were told to go make plans. Once you're scheduled the deal is done for you to cancel plans and be there, it is very simple.
I don't know the rules about that specifically, it seems like there are very few actual concrete guidelines about scheduling in the GIG. It might be one of those things that varies from store to store because of different state laws. Maybe see what you can find out about your state's labor laws, it definitely sounds shady but if it doesn't violate the law or their own policies, WFM can pretty much do what they want.
But in the meantime I would definitely take a picture/make a copy of your schedule as soon as it's posted just to cover yourself. I wouldn't trust anyone in leadership not to "accidentally" change you to an earlier shift without notice just to get you in trouble. At least then you will have proof that you weren't late when they try to write you up.
Welcome to retail, bozo. Schedules change according to the needs of the business and that is how it is everywhere. Want regular hours? Get a job somewhere else. Oh, you're not qualified for a 9 to 5 Monday through Friday office job that pays you big bucks? Aww, too bad.
they can't. i don't work at wfm anymore, it's been a couple months, but i'm sure it hasn't changed since then. they can't change the schedule on short notice unless you agree to it - it's part of that team member commitment thing they put out.
of course, not agreeing to changes can't get you in trouble, but don't expect your atl or tl to do you any favors ever again. gotta pick your battles i guess.
