Thread regarding Whole Foods Market Inc. layoffs

The Negotiations have begun...

Kroger and Whole Foods have completed the first round of negotiations. Did they make the stocks jump? Yes they did...next time is for how high. Legacy stores will go to Kroger and the 365 will go to the ego. Let's get those back rooms cleared out and ready for new stock and easy transition.

I am working at Kroger after being with Whole foods forever. I can honestly say they know how to run a store. I have been there for a while now and wish that WF treat their tm the way they do..with respect. The culture is different the systems are way more in line with the times. Its like night and day. yeah the pay is a bit low, but there is a union and thats great..why? because your STL cant fire you because they want to ,Simple. I work with some great people and seem really happy. I met a employee who has been with the for 25 years and wouldnt trade it for the world. Plus beside your 401k,you get a pension which is which is awesome. You dont just promoted just because someone likes you more than the other. You get put into a program. they teach you how things need to be done so you can succeed and not fail. Their store are built beautifully and with things in place from the start and not a after thought, The prices are amazing and YES. the have a huge growing Organic section that i do but because i love my Organic. Their deli and venus are sooo good and at a great deal. Bakery is on point along with the other dept. Its like a Whole foods but way nicer. They are building 10 more store next year. 2000 something store and growing. I trained at one store and just opened a new and I can say"Im having fun again" Store leadership not only say hi,but remember your name ,shake your hand and ask how are you on a daily basis. There is at least 3 ASTL and one STL. So far my experience has been the best. Don tget me wrong i miss my old tm's . I loved them to death, but not the leadership and how they run a store. The structure seems great and are put in place by people who know the retail business and not by a bagger who got to move based on who a-- he kissed. I have been asked my best friends who in leadership positions and coordinators how is it and i tell them they would be amazed how it runs. A buyer doesnt have to the POS system. They dont have to spend three hours or the whole day to place an order , pull movement ,write down pars, and look up sale. The scan we use does it all in a click, how much was sold by units daily sale ,what was ordered for the next day. All by scanning the bar code on signs the have .So easy. I dont think WF can ever do that. Saves on labor ,manager is on the sale floor while doing the order and takes no time. I am boggled how a such a multimillion dollar company hasnt figured it out yet. Even punching in with your finger. Not to mention , the new store now have a Starbucks and dont have to wait for some burnt nasty allegro coffee. I drank the kool aid my freinds for years and can say the grass is greener on the other side. I do miss my wf peeps and always will, but I am grateful I was able to see why the are successful and how they continue to grow. Take it for its worth.

Get real. These rumours are apparently emanating right out of Austin. Two years ago it was Publix. Then it was private equity. Now it's Kroger. Anything to goose the stock price in the short term. It's called PUMP AND DUMP. And by the way, it's called company STOCK not company STOCKS. Watch a business program sometime.

Whoever buys whole foods will immediately upscale their brand. Kroger needs it the most.

The main point here is "Why would Kroger want it?".

"Market speculation of Kroger acquiring rival Whole Foods Markets sent stock in both companies rising on Thursday, but an analyst told SN Friday such a deal seemed farfetched. "Why would Kroger want it?" Joe Feldman, an analyst with Telsey Advisory Group, said Friday when asked by SN about the speculation. "Kroger is already taking share in the space, as are others. And, it would cost a fair amount." "

I used to work at Kroger. I wonder if I would get the same number. We clocked in with our fingerprints and that was a decade ago. Also union.

No idea if rumor is true or false but it is highly doubtful 365 and WFM can be split up to 2 owners. 365 brand is a core product brand in both businesses, therefore could not be in stores owned by 2 different entities. Again, not in denial about changes; however, this post is probably a person trolling trying to stir things up.

Yeah....not convinced that a buyout with Kroger is happening.

The stocks moved up with the rumor so I'm interested to see if any of the VPs cashed out stock when it was up...that would indicate an insider move to boost stock prices and increase the return, maybe.

The real question is who if not Kroger? ALDI? Lidl?

This has been a rumor in the Mid Atlantic for at least 6 months.

Need more evidence of this. WF needs to restructure TL pay and it should be noted I'm not a TL yet or even close but if you are taking on more work then you need paid as such. This is actually a very odd thing that our team members who really don't like our TL agree on. It is just good business. We know we are not sposed to know what anyone makes but everyone talks and I've been around long enough I know people and what mostly everyone makes. We are gonna lose any good ones very soon. Unless we make big wage changes we will lose all the talent and as much as we don't really love our TL we know that the alternate choices if they decide to leave are bad and worse and people will leave including long time friends ofmine. Fix the pay for the work from top down or we are going to end up on the news for bad business practice and then the stock will fall even further.
