Thread regarding Whole Foods Market Inc. layoffs

No baggers anymore and they won't be coming back.

All they need to do is reconfigure the registers so that a cashier can easily bag as they scan and lower the IPM number to compensate. WFM registers are set up with a bagger being present as the rule, not exception. Since labor is so thin the very few GSCs left are always out doing carts or bagging ice. The registers need to be redone or nothing will change. Back when WFM was private and still valued their employees there was ways a bagger stationed AT LEAST at every other register. On holidays like day before Thanksgiving/Christmas there would be a GSC at both the FRONT of a register to unload for a guest and at the BACK for bagging at every single register. Those days are over.

I hated being a bagger because management demanded a certain number of items per bag, but customers said the bags were too heavy and would break.

Being an ex bagger, I am glad to be just a customer.

I worked about a year as a cashier (2005) and noticed over that year that our baggers dwindled down to two for the entire team. Then I was promoted to admin but the whole company is poorly run. Got out last year, best decision of my life!!!
