Thread regarding Whole Foods Market Inc. layoffs

Glad I left

It took me 11 years, 7 stores, 6 states and 4 regions before I woke up and realized it was time to get out. I took the knowledge and training Whole Foods gave me and joined another retailer and have no regrets about leaving. Hands down it was the best decision I could have made. It was a great time but unfortunately if you're not in the club with the Regional VP's there is no chance to get promoted. Good thing is other retailers loves and respects people coming from the Market. It was a great ride but I'm glad it's over. I hope the best for those team members in the SW, RM, PNW and South regions

Love you hard, Dave. Best TL I ever had.

I'm at the YLE store, never met you but have heard many good things. Unfortunately, the people who work hard and treat people with respect get the shaft working for this company. Best to you.

I got out about two years ago and life is SO MUCH BETTER. As long as the current board of directors, all the regional presidents and their harems and staffs are still in place, and as long as the execs in Austin remain the same...NOTHING WILL IMPROVE and the ship will continue sinking. Get the hell out and good riddance. Life on the other side isn't perfect (it never will be) but you will feel an incredible sense of relief and freedom. The entire company is built on a platform of deceit, lies, nepotism and incompetence. GET OUT!

Glad to hear you're doing well! You and your wife are both well-loved at our store. Thanks for a positive and encouraging post.

I knew it was you without looking at the name. They treated you so badly at tls. Honestly you were the best tl and would have done much better as an stl than any stl we've had.

STLs get jobs for s---ing up to you know who in the SW. One in particular opened 3 stores and his track record s---s.. 2 of the stores are under performing and bleeding ... But he still collects his paycheck

So true! It's like each day counting down from your (# of weeks/days/seconds) notice is like vitality being restored to your soul, and when you're free... You are (here it comes...) Whole again!

You are correct about the SW RVP calling the shots on STL selections. I along with many tms just laugh at her picks. It's just that obvious and most turn out to flop but at least they can fetch a stick and beg.

I was at 3 stores over the course of the last 6 years in the SW and quit one month ago. Feels great! As soon as I heard one store labor was coming I said enough was enough. Found sunbathing MUCH better and is not even retail. I GET HOLIDAYS OFF NOW. Congrats on leaving as well!

Thank you for sharing your story! I can attest to everything you have said. Whole Foods is a sh--show. It has been every since it allows the regional vP's to do what they want without any reasoning. I am glad i left also. It is definitely the BEST decision i have made in regards to my career. I don't know who is worse in regards to regions. But, i have had a horrible experience in the SW region.
