Thread regarding Whole Foods Market Inc. layoffs

The problem is MORALE! Figure out who the morale boosting leaders are and promote them before everyone leaves.

Ask anyone at stores and I bet they say that the problem is morale.

If you have a TL that you think is good for morale then grab onto them and follow them to the competition because they'll realize soon they are way too good for this mess and they will go to a company not imploding.

The stronger leaders will not get promoted due to the insecurity and ego of RPs and RVPs. Just let it go and ride Bessie to the farm!

Sorry folks, the morale ain't coming back. Your leaders are being beat into the ground by this company's inept leadership. It all trickles down and we're all getting more than our share.

This is definitely the loud consensus at my store.

Yes please! Surely there is someone within the company that can recognize talent. Find the TLs of the most successful teams and put them in positions to influence the entire store. This is such a missed opportunity and one reason we are falling behind.

I absolutely agree. Too bad everyone will be at Tribal while the morale leaders stay behind and attempt to keep stores from collapsing and tm's from leaving. We r in a free-fall and no one cares.

Customers don't care about morale but that is what keeps the good TMs around to help those customers. We are losing all the quality people little by little to the competition and it will be the end of us if we don't fix it. I agree that morale is the main problem. Take a look at the competition, that is who they are hiring and that is who they are coming after. And for great reason.

What dooms the company is u can for the most part but the same products and other stores for a lot less, most customers don't care about morale just want good products cheaper than whole foods

I totally agree with this. It can't be that difficult to look at stores and teams and figure out which ones have the strongest TLs. I just got out but if I had a leader who motivated meI would have stayed. There are leaders on teams out there that wfm can't lose but ultimately will. I hope the best for Whole Foods and hope they figure it out for all of my friends sake.

Morale is a symptom. While absolutely a problem, not the root. But, now that the cycle is well under way, morale is what will hasten the road to the bottom.

Morale is very poor where I once worked. I don't even want to shop there any more despite still knowing at least half the front end staff. Bummer.

And exactly who are these morale boosters?

At both the global and regional level

No, the problem has always been INCOMPETENCE. High morale is impossible when you have "leadership" in executive roles at work he global and regional level who never should have been in those jobs in the first place. Years of bad hiring decisions and laughable policies along with inconsistent and short sighted business practices have created a poorly designed company built on a bad foundation. You can't fix it by blowing more sunshine up people's butts. GET OUT NOW. That is how you boost your morale. Just leave. Bad morale is the symptom not the cause of the disease!

The repeated coachings are bad for my morale, but they cause me to work harder so I won't get coached again, but I probably will. I guess that's what they want. I haven't figured out why they wanna get rid of me though.
