Thread regarding Whole Foods Market Inc. layoffs

TMs, our competition values and wants to hire you.

Years of training and experience at WFM makes YOU very desirable to Kroger, Target, H.E.B., Trader Joe's, and anywhere hard-working folks are treated like adults. Don't be afraid to leave a corporation rotting from the inside.

Cherrios was a TL in the Midwest. Nick name. I worked with him for years and i can honestly say he was one of the best. Great merchandiser, hard worker, good but long huddles and truly valued his tm. I worked with him in several locations and a actual great guy. Sad when he left( told you not to go) even sadder to hear he wasnt with WF any longer. He always took care of his TMs and I hope that someone is taking care of him now "put the apple down" lol

You've obviously never worked at Kroger if you put them on that list. Check Glassdoor ratings.

I recently left Fresh Thyme to take on a role as CFO of one of our in house vendors. I was very happy there during my time. I can tell you we had a dream list of a dozen top Leadership employees we were and assuredly still are targeting to hire which is made up of a majority of current Team leaders and an administrator or three. We were and surely are heavily recruiting them and are encouraged to offer what it takes to get them on our side. This is where whole Foods market is losing the battle you see. They can not hold talented Team members anymore because they are over worked and under-appreciated. I do not dislike Whole Foods market or hold any disdain as I even silently shop there often. But it is currently a dated player using dated tactics. Take a look or make a list ofwho the best Team leaders are that you have in the company. In one year see how many of them get offers and how many of them leave for better opportunities with competitors. It is there you will see where and how you are losing ground. Oh howe are the myghtie ouerthrowen.

Target carries organics, Wal-Mart carries organics, HEB carries organics.

What once made us different was our products and our guest service.

We lost exclusivity on both of those.

Kroger has a good selection of organics and believe it or not ...cheaper. The same conventional produce WF carries Kroger carries and again cheaper. Store layout are attractive . Just a big difference from night and day.I just made my third month there and already I am in their leadership program. With alot f new store openings this year and massive hiring to keep up with demand ,I am looking forward to the future. Its what you make of it and your drive. Leaving WF was a life changer, but it also gave great skills sets that i can use to other markets and be a huge asset. They have their own SOP they have been doing for years. Ordering is simple with everything you need in a hand held gun and not having your buyer spending hours in front of the computer pulling reports. (stone age system) automated ordering for some items makes it easy to. I guess wherever anyone goes, know there is hope and a future. Not all of WF is bad, just the clowns in certain regions and in stores that ruin it for all. I hope some day they can get there crap together and value their TM's as much as i did. I love every single one of my TM's i worked with and wish them them the best in their future."Grass may not always be greeneron the other side, but at least its still growing "

I was WFM for 0ver 19 years as a TL in the Midwest. Made the move to the SW for a better life and another 20 years .but I realized this region runs differently . I can say my STL s---ed. Clueless, no ideas, lazy and late most of the time. Great tm's ,but leadership was the worst compared to the Midwest. I was let go after three months being there. I guess when they dont like you they dont like you. Just sorry it happened at my families expense. It was hard after so many years and i landed at a piece of crap store. I still hear moral s---s(real some good people work there) but I landed with Kroger. New store ,leadership that works ,says good morning asks how your doing. I had a house fire a week before XMAS and lost my home. In my second month there they took care of me and my family and showed mad love. I have a great relationship with My STL and loves it that I have WFM experience. They give you more money for your experience and they just cant fire you when they feel like it. Union. I work FT guaranteed 40 hours(union rule) Their systems are way advance in ordering and tracking inventory. My point is that there is a after life. I was a WFM lifer. I still love my beloved old company because of the great friends I made. Life events, promotions and the mentors I worked with. I know that it will be ok, no stress, I feel valued and cant wait to see what it brings me. I love You my WFM Family.

We have to wake up! I have long been saying

within our office that we don't value quality TLs and atls like other companies do. Now it is starting to bite us in the rear end.

Kroger should not be on that list. Beyond that I can tell you that the not-so-secret strategy of my current company and WFM competitor is to go after WFM leaders. It is easy to hire minimum wage labor but extremely difficult to find good leaders. We pay whatever it takes for the right people so look at your options. They are getting rid of positions while we and others are creating positions. I left WFM and I can validate there is life after WFM with less stress and more stability respect money & opportunity.
