Astl's

I thought stores were going down to only one ASTL. Why then are some stores that only have 1 ASTL getting another=2. I'm hearing some ASTL'S are being transfered to stores that oly have 1, doesn't make sense.

Check thelayoff rules again, dude. It's not just no naming names policy. They say no personal info, which is a little bit wider than just names. They also don't allow threats, insults and other form of derogatory language. My two cents, if the nick was offensive in some way, the post would get deleted because of the offense itself, regardless of fact that you didn't named anybody.

To be clear, when I stated my STL is da bomb and my store has fun and all that, please do not confuse those words and my comments about the Boca store. I am not at the Boca store. I just used them as an example of a store that has more ASTLs. I make no judgement as to how store leadership or store conditions are at Boca is because I have never worked there.

That's great enjoy washing dishes with your clipboard masters. UR in Boca Moron. You need those other stores so the company doesn't go bankrupt. Maybe you can buy your store when all the other ones are sold.

It's all about sales volume. Boca runs 4 or 5 ASTLs these days cause it is WAY busy. Some of you are in podunk stores with no sales volume at all, and your stores should just be closed, rather than complaining about staffing. The heck with smaller markets, WFM should only place stores in areas where there is enough business to support the big box and all that is inside it! My store rocks, we have every bell and whistle, we are huge, we do insane $$$, the days fly by in season, our STL is da bomb, and we all have a good time and our team leaders aren't all that bad. This is the best job I ever had, and I have had a bunch.

I wonder if it's because we went to one store labor. When tls shift lead now even when the labor is moved it still comes out of the gainsharing of the team members since the only labor budget that doesn't affect gainsharing is the salaried code and you can't move hours there without cheating tls out of gainsharing.

It doesn't take 2 Astls and one stl to "run" anything. You need to pay that rate to cover open hours at a store? Please. Most Astls are kids who have zero management or leadership experience, but they're all great "bosses" wandering around with their hands in their pockets barking instructions at people and telling teams everything that's wrong in their departments, regardless if it's even material in the overall operation. All our stl ever says to us is " you need to do a better job driving sales", you need to get out in the floor more and sample, you need bigger displays, but reduced shrink. Meanwhile they opened a store 4.5 miles from us and our store traffic is down 15%.

Salaries are based on a 40 hour work week. The more hours you work the less you get paid. 50 hours ain't happening here.

There is so much misinformation here. Team leaders and in some cases atls shift the store. One store I know of has one astl and each TL shifts once a week. They clock in under admin and admin pays for their labor for watching the store.

Shifty is a glorified key holder so ASTL/STLs don't have to close. Used to be you could charge admin for the labor but that went away years ago.

@LRYgLui-jva In the UK region they solved that problem by making TL's salaried.

The thing about a TL shifty is that they are hourly. I've seen hourly shifties on a Sunday have to clock out for their lunch to avoid overtime. Of course a shifty can't be "off the clock" when they are the only TL there. I've seen this at other companies too, usually ones where the shifty has to clock out for lunch. It's only an issue for WF if the TL worked extra during the week.

first off my store has been without a second astl for 3 years now and they take advantage of the t.l.'s big time to cover shifty shifts. THey use and abuse the t.l.'s , then they wonder why the t.l.'s can't get any work done because they're constantly getting paged and pulled out of their dept.'s to deal with b---s--- from customers and other crap.

And i can tell you my store mgmt. does not work 50hours a week, half the time they leave early, they work more like 40 hours a week.

And are these departmental TLs that are doing all the shift leading getting hourly bonuses or being unfairly taken advantage of? Does anyone have insight into this? It is the first I have heard but if true this practice will be brought out.

Leadership rolls are expected to work a 50 hour work week minimum. Most stores are open 14 hours a day so with an STL and an ASTL you have a 100 hours of coverage a week even though we are only open 98 hours a week. And before anyone says anything about days off for store leadership Department TL can do shifty shifts so the second ASTL is unnecessary.

Takes one STL and two ASTLs minimum just to cover seven days a week of shift leader shifts. I don't see how you could even run a small/slow store with just one ASTL.
