After returning from the CC overnight retreat, I okayed a day off for one of my tms. It was before a walk or something and my boss asked me why I let my tm have the day off. I reminded her of Conscious Capitalism to which she replied that we don't practice that here, business needs first.

That is what i thought when they gave me a copy of the book because i was a team leader and it is still what i think. Wfm is just a corporate citizen like any other. Our job is to improve sales and profits, period. Small businesses or big businesses...the bottom line is the bottom line.
