Thread regarding Bank of America layoffs

Same game...

Bank is doing this for cost savings. Then they will hire double the amount India for twice as cheap...issue is their work always has to be redone as they are untrained. Been with the bank 30 years and I'm sure I am next. S---s always worrying about your job as the execs get bigger bonuses and us Jr exec get escorted out the door. Terrible as those dedicated to their job still don't get any consideration. Nothing to do with job performance....we are just a number!

It's the management structure that too hierarchical and costs too much! That's where all the unproductive fat is - a huge expense compared to the mere pitance that the lowly employees cost who do all the work.

There is a manager for everything and everyone and most people have at least 2 managers if not more - 1 indirect and a few others that poke their noses in to control stuff and mess things up!

The fact that other banks have a lower cost is that their management structure is probably leaner and more competent.

the problem is that other banks have a lower cost , so if BoA employees are so efficient and hardworking, why are costs so high?

I agree, I once worked there too. My teammates were always in a state of fear as I was. Watch the old TV series called The Prisoner, they were all numbers.

they could have fired 3 on my team in place of me. it would have been far greater savings and i could easily perform the work of my 3 direct reports. so it isn't all cost - it's political, personality, etc.

Yes, the common theme here is that one's performance is irrelevant. I had succeeded at some really cool and unusually difficult work, something which had been tried in the past by a number of others all of which had failed. I got absolutely no recognition or acknowledgement for what I had done as the original manager had left on his own accord for obviously a better bank. Mediocrity rules at this place which is why there are so many Indians around!
