Thread regarding Whole Foods Market Inc. layoffs

No layoffs in plans says Bezos! Or, hmmm, maybe...

Again, we are getting conflicting messages about potential layoffs here. AMZN's officials are denying any plans about potential layoffs, paint rosy picture of what's about to come. On the other hand, 'sources close to the company' claim that the checkout will be automated, distribution sreamlined, pricing turned upside down, marketing 'reinvented', etc... All signs point to a massive restructuring that will see many let go...

When Amazon.com Inc. completes its acquisition of Whole Foods Market Inc., Chief Executive Officer Jeff Bezos will try to keep the grocer’s reputation for premium fresh foods while cutting prices to shed its “Whole Paycheck” image.

See an article by Bloomberg below, the link is at the bottom:

Amazon expects to reduce headcount and change inventory to lower prices and make Whole Foods competitive with Wal-Mart Stores Inc. and other big-box retailers, according to a person with knowledge of the company’s grocery plans. That included potentially using technology to eliminate cashiers. An Amazon spokesman denied any job cuts were planned.

This is a huge mistake by Bezos and will ultimately be written about in textbooks as a major failure...right next to the article about the long-term mismanagement of Whole Foods.

This may make more sense of it. This video for Amazon Go looks just like a Whole Foods Market. It was Published on Dec 5, 2016.

Sir, sooner or later there will be layoffs. Sadly, (like in a war-zone those in the frontline are the first to go), and in this case, it will be the cashiers/frontline team.

Of course they are going to paint a rosy picture. They need the peons to keep it running so they can get everything set first, not all bailing out.

Look at every noteworthy buyout or acquisition they all follow the same time line. First everyone is told no layoffs business as usual everything is rosy and great. Then 6 months or so later the bloodbath begins. Within 5 years the original company is a lifeless shell if it exists in any way at all.
