New Band 5 Layoffs - Impacting GT&O

I was hit last week, Band 4, out of the blue. Now a bunch of B5's were told they were being let go today. Not sure how widespread it was. But one, who was an incredible developer, was eliminated today likely because he wasn't part of the newer "Goldman Sachs" crew that joined that group. They've eliminated so many legacy BAML folks in favor of the NY based Goldman people.

Anyone know of anyone other B5'sh-- today? After a week of reflection, I'm somewhat relieved I'm out!

Unfortunately I was a B4 MyWork employee, I knew it was only a matter of time, even with assurances I was in no danger!

I wa hit on the 13th, Band 6 My Work employee. I can assure you that the market for developers is hot right now. Very busy fielding calls from recruiters and hav had 2 in person interviews with another 2 tomorrow. I look at the layoff as a blessing.

I was laid off in the most recent reductions. B4 and had no clue. Since I've seen some opportunities to return, but just don't want to as this point. It was a difficult environment to work in and other former work associates who have moved on all, to a person, say they wish they had moved on earlier.

I had a lot of misplaced loyalty. Worked the extra hours, engaged in brand building volunteering, and more. In the end I was just a number despite always being Meets/Meets or even Exceeds 3 different years. I really hope I don't have to return.

@NU9MxBZ-1sao, you are in my case wrong, I want a package. I'm looking because I'm tired of seeing good people tossed out for political reasons. I'm tired of the fear and paralysis that occurs prior to and after every action. I sold my stock last year because when I thought of it objectively the constant re-organization with no thought of sustainability around process and knowledge made no sense.

, how can creating gaps and risk bring sustainable shareholder wealth? I've hung on to the fear of getting a package for the last 10 years. Yes, I still want one. In some ways I feel it's owed. Years of working 60 hours a week for crappy, egotistical idiots. It's time to go out and make my own package and kiss the sinking ship goodbye

Today's exchange rate

GS/BAC:

developers: 1/5

Management: 1/100

They should layoff my H4 manager who doesn't do any work and just loves to delegate work and always away or offline for a long time specially in the afternoon. What the he** is he doing.

@NU9MxBZ

In general I would do the same. Of course there would be exceptions but I think the exchange between a GS and a BAC is 1 to 5

Sure, its facts. All of it is facts. I'm in a much better position now, but the thought of "when is it my time" rings in mostly everyones head. I'm just saying, its sad. No one really wants a package. There are plenty of folks that meet the criteria where I'm from.. I've got nothing to hide..

@1pjs I hope you weren't trying to stay anonymous because that's a lot of info. The data set meeting that criteria is pretty small.

I hope its true @pjp... 25 years here and i started at 19 yr old! Worked my way thru college. Heck, back in the day, the bank sent me to school during work hours for the latest and greatest dev tools. None of that "investment" happens anyone. I've seen the culture die right befofe my eyes..

Most recent layoffs (B4 last week, B5's this week):

Under 20 years:

2 weeks per year, 8 week min 52 week max

Over 20 years:

3 weeks per year, can't remember the max but I think it was 72 weeks.

If you're laid off prior to 6/29 you are NOT eligible for year end cash bonus. After 6/29 you will get a bonus if paid out to your former department and team.

Place s---s. You become apathetic to layoffs over the years because there are so many, you lose your compassion.

BOA should be sued for the amount of hours they force you to work and don't compensate for it. It is a sweat shop and anyone looking for a job should stay clear of this hell hole. The top executives are morons and are running this company into the ground.

I am a B5 MyWork associate. Still waiting on the call.

Someone told me there is a change with severance. Not sure if it is true but was told if you worked 15 yrs or longer you will get 3 week per year and if 25 or longer you will get 4 weeks. Again rumour only but I did hear from someone.

@NU9MxBZ

Lucky for the great developer. He gets severance and good developers don't have problems finding jobs in this market.

People need to realize there is no loyalty from the the bank therefore no need to be loyal to it. Go get your paycheck, spend as little time as possible there, always take lunch breaks, don't work nights or weekends unless you are getting paid.

A friend of mine was hit today. He had no idea either! S---s!!! B5 MyWork. Was told if they are laid off before the end of the month they aren't eligible for a year end bonus, but if you have years of service (I think it's 20), you would be. Insult to injury.
