Thread regarding Whole Foods Market Inc. layoffs

Contrast between Amazon and Whole Foods approach

Found this link in another thread, it's an excellent article on what service will look like under Amazon. Pretty easy to see why the days of retail are numbered.

Amazon issued 13 plus billion in bonds on Tuesday, that with their current debt of 8 billion, plus WFM debt of 1 billion means that they are in on the long haul with WFM. It also means lots of change, either good or bad it will affect every WFM employee, most lilely for the worst. Goodbye bonus, gainsharing, raises, welcome short term mim. wage, research fulfillment center longevity of employees, that's the future of WFM employment.

Why would Amazon hire 50, 000 people and not get rid of us when the sale goes through??? How is this a good thing???

Well it's not gonna be good for people who would rather stay on their computer all day. Not good if you s--- at your job and have slid by on good looks or fairie magick.

Pay rates for new positions will be less, as we've already been seeing.

Did you know that the ASTL pay structure/bonus changed? They get pretty much nothing now. That's probably why some have quit or become bitter.

The changes have been going on in slow motion for a few years now. I expect nothing dramatic to happen to shake things up...Amazon sees long into the future on their investment. In five years the quality of employees will continue to drop and finally the higher paid minority will be in leadership roles or blasted out the rear.

But for now...Amazon has little experience in brick and mortar stores...zilch. They will leave it alone for awhile I hope. That's why Mackey is still around.

Who cares anyhow? You'll be fine if Whole Foods disappeared. Momentarily dazed and freaked out, nevertheless you will be fine.

It's going to bring tons of great opportunities. Just not at Whole Foods.

It is mind-blowing, to me, how many of my fellow TMs think that the Amazon deal is going to be a GREAT thing.... that it is going to bring so many great job opportunities.

Not sure WHY they would think this...

Does anyone else out there believe this? If so, please explain why you believe this...
