Thread regarding Whole Foods Market Inc. layoffs

Would anyone recommend working at WFM HO?

Would anyone recommend coming to work for the Whole Foods home office? What's the general feel for the buyout? Is it stable?

Whoa! Are you sure you don't work in the South West Region? Sure sounds like it. You won't realize what an abusive company WFM is until you can get away from it.

Go for it! Austin is fine...hard work yes but so is every other job. It's what YOU make it. Now get down here.

1lah you just described most corporate "real" jobs. I lug my laptop around and sometimes spend time at home checking emails on the weekend while the fam is asleep in the morning. That's the real world. These guys need to realize if you simply want to clock out and call it a day and have no stress, maybe the grocery store is the right place for you.

Sometimes I wish I was still in retail cause of the low stress (trust me you don't know what real stress is if you're in a grocery store). But the pay and regular hours and weekends makes it all worth it.

Wfm sounds miserable from the top down. Sounds like Amazon should just get rid of everyone and start over.

Not sure which region you are in, or are you speaking of working in Austin? I work in a West Coast region's office. It's soul crushing, political with leadership actively avoiding speaking with you. Our systems are so woefully outdated that, no one system can tell us what a store received and what a store sold by UPC, technology that every other major retailer has had for 2 dozen years. TMs (non-hourly) who work at regional are on call, 24-7 and lug their laptops all over creation. Average work week approaches 55-60 hours and the sheer volume of email is unmanageable. 280MB max! I spend at least 2-3 hours a week moving, indexing and analyzing my email account to free up more room for more email. It's a job but one that has so many frustrations, comedic corporate lingo, rampant favoritism that any passion we once had is gone and the worst part is that these are the same folks that got WFM where it is today, a business whose only way to move forward is to be bought out by another company with actual educated, savvy shareholder's dream.
