MyWork decommission

So our area got a communication that telecommuting would be "decommissioned". However, we were told "mileage" and "commute times" would be reviewed as exceptions, along with "other burdens".

  1. Does anyone know if there is a distance cap? what is it?

  2. What would be considered an excessive commute time?

  3. What is considered a "burden"?

We have heard the mileage is up to 50 miles and commute times over 1 hour are considered excessive. However, without anything in writing, this seems like just another way to pick and choose who gets to continue to telecommute and who doesn't.

When my work was ended in my area, the miles from the office varied based on the capacity at the site -- charlotte was 20 miles, Delaware was 30 miles, Texas was 20 miles etc. there were very few exceptions based on hardship (even turned down people who had medical reasons) Luckily, there's a lot of flexibility still so hasn't been bad

I find the whole My Work thing interesting. I live 4 miles from the office. I never was interested in My Work but was told how much money it would save the company etc etc. There was actually a goal to reach for people to join. I almost felt guilty because I didn't want to join My Work but finally gave in. It was ok, but certainly coming back into the office was not an issue. I guess I am just thinking about how so many people were encouraged to work from home to help save money on occupancy charges and now those people are viewed as lazy no-goods. Now don't get me wrong, I hated those calls when a baby was screaming in the background or the dogs were barking or when people were mowing their lawn during a call (true story).

I had a set schedule everyday (except for those 10 - 11 p.m. nights which were frequent). Not all of us were lazy and just looking to avoid going into the office.

I was released a few years ago and I was very prepared financially and emotionally. I was so grateful to get out. I was really burnt on all the drama that BOA has going on. Just wasn't fun to go to work any longer. I was ok leaving for sure.

These days if you're outside whatever mileage range they decide you have a meeting with The Bobs and you're Naga work there anymore.

Commuting from around New York City into New York City is an hour and half minimum commuting time! Sometimes it can be a little faster but that is the extreme case. Without the telecommuting option this company has given up one of it's best benefits ...

Listen we get it. You don’t wanna go into the office. Oh well that s---s because the rest of us have had to go in when you work from home on the same team. I once worked 5 min from a BofA office that had people on my team, doing the same job. But since the manager wanted to start moving his team to an office 60 min away I had to drive spending 300 a month extra in gas and 2 hours wasted driving per day to stay on this team because I was the lowest seniority. I did it because at the time I wanted the the job. It sounds like you really aren’t passionate about your job anymore and probably a complainer. I have no sympathy so either s--- it up of find another job.

You've gotta love the trolls on here, SMH. When they did this in my department, it was a 35 mile range. If you lived within 35 miles you had to go back into the office. More than 35 could remain at home to work. Good luck!
